twinmommy...

I drink the protien shakes that body builders use...low carb/fat, high protien, to build lean muscle. My favorite is Champion Nutrition whey chocolate. It's so good my kids use it for chocolate milk, especially on game days for soccer and H2O polo. Alot of people think protien drinks are too high in calories, but they are actually looking at Meal Replacement drinks like slimfast...not the same at all.

I have a protien drink every morning (ussually the chocolate, hot with international coffee SF mixed in) it's my morning latte, or I frappe it with ice in the blender. Often I have some cottage cheese around 10:30 then lunch about 1-2:00...seems to keep me from snacking as much if I space my meals that way. Everybody's got to find what works for them.

Sue

PS...I know you "chat" with Wendy from time to time...she's at the hoespital waiting on her first Grandbaby (Chloeigh Mae)...We're all so excited!

Sue,

Okay, I need your help. I see that you drink you Protein hot. I would like to try that in the morning. So, how do you do it where the mix does not curdel(sp, you know what I mean). I have tried the SF international coffee mix and love it so I would like to have it in the AM with my protein mix.

Thanks,

Laura

Accidental impressionism shot, but it actually helped me out with some of my image issues. Whoever this guy is, he doesn't look like a fatass

Laura...

Your Water is too hot, boiling water will curdle the protien, cool it down a little before adding then powder. I've done it too, then, not noticing, took a BIG swig...nasty!!!

I like to add SF syrups too, Enlish Toffee and Almond are my favorites.

I had an NSV-

My drivers license is expiring soon and I needed to go take the vision test and take a new pic- anyway.... my weight is finally accurate! After 14 or so years of hopeing nobody questioned it, it finally has the correct weight. Yeeeaaah for me!

Wow, congrats, i'm still working on reaching my drivers' license weight!

Sue - I had my yummy hot Protein mixed with my international coffee this morning. Thanks again for the advice. I sure enjoyed it, I just can't do a cold shake first thing. I have trouble eating in the AM, and usually cannot eat anything until around 9 or 10, so it felt so much better knowing that at least I am getting some protein first thing. Part of me thinks that this has been one of the reasons that the weight has been real slow to come of lately. We shall see........

Hi all. I'm here. I've been reading up on everyone's progress, but haven't had much to report myself.

Some of you may remember I lost my band in February due to erosion, among other issues. Anyway, I'm working my butt off and watching my diet and doing everything I can to not gain any weight back. It's been a struggle, to say the least. But, so far, I've pretty maintained. Considering so many people gain weight back quickly, I'm considering this a success and trying not to think of the weight I could be losing.

Take care and have a great week!

Who's next?

Hello all...

Nothing new to report on my end either... The scale keeps playing with the 2 lbs...back and forth... no progress at all. I'm annoyed but not as down about it as I was last week. I'm starting to get that feeling... failure. Like... this is the end of the road for me. I'm working out, I'm eating right (not too much, not too little... all the right things...) and nothing. At this point I'll be thrilled to death if I make 199 by memorial day... let alone my goal of 190. On a better note, I am going back in on Wednesday for a fill... maybe just a small one will make a difference... maybe it'll kick start my loss. I'm hoping anyway.

Seems like everyone is MIA!! Where is everyone?? Weazer? Mini? Sandra? Metal? HHHEEEELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO????!!!!!!?????

Hey Melissa....I have been lurking but with nothing new to report. I too keep playing with the same 2 lbs!!! I think I have lost and gained it 40 times!!! I have not been working out and I know that will make the difference but....its like the old bad habits start creeping back! You are doing all the right things...don't get discouraged, the scale will move soon!

SElaine, that is such an accomplishment to have your band removed and not gain!!! Congrats!!!

Cindyluhu....10lbs from goal, well done girl!

Mini was having surgery and said she would be gone for a while but....we should have heard by now???? Hope all is well Weazer!

Have a great day!

I know I have wondered if this is the end of the road for me also? In th ebiginning my Doc said that most Lap Band patients lose 70% of their excess weight. I have lost 81 out of 109lbs. I am so close to goal (closer than I have ever been) I can taste it. Apparently not enough to stop tasting everything else though...........

I want to be thin! I need a kick in the butt!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
