May 2007 Banders

Does anyone want to start a list of stuff to buy for after surgery & stuff for the hospital (for those of us that have to stay over) that you have heard of?

I had my nutrition appt. yesterday. We did not sample anything. She did show us empty boxes. Yea! Whatever......... What shakes for after surgery did y'all like the flavor of (where do you get them also)? She said to add whey Protein in the shakes at least once a day, or to drink Isopure 8oz. a day from GNC. She is kind of goofy and straight out of school. Was not sure about what exactly what to buy?

Wenjea-I started my pre-op today. Feel pretty good so far. Then again it is only 4:30 the first day.............I am getting so excited! How are you doing? Did you start your pre-op yet?

At PreOP today I got my "packet"...at the top it had a description of the procedure "Adjustable LapBand Laproscopic possibly Open"...

...scared the SH*T out of me!! I don't want to do open!!! So I am sticking to this PreOp diet I have created for myself!!!

Ok.. here's two more reasons for the "100 reasons to lose 100lbs"

- I want my WHOLE BODY to stop moving when I stop moving (not 2-3 seconds later when I stop j i g g l i n g)..

_ I want to be able to shower without having to *ahem* 'lift' any body parts for cleaning. :-)

I am getting banded on the 25th of this month, ya hoooo! I feeling like this is consuming my thoughts, my poor husbad doesnt want to hear anything else about it, so I think this website will be good for me:) is there anyone out there from az?

Hi there,

I am with you. My surgery date is 5/3.....and I am a bit nervous. This is a great site though and it offers allot of information. I am at my heaviest weight ever and as the May date gets closer I am trying to prepare myself for the welcomed life changing event that I am about to endure.....dear goodness I hope I am making the right decision. Let's keep in touch and help everyone stay motivated together. I am excited to lose the weight and be back to 140 which is what I weighed 10 years a ago when I got married. I knew that wonderful weight couldn't last though as I have always had a problem, just never imagined I would be where I am at now.

Good luck and keep in touch.:)

I to will miss my friend of food:( oh but thin will be so great! I keep thinking everytime we go out to eat. wow, will this be the last time that I eat mexican food, or spagetti. Sounds silly doesnt it. how old are your kids? where do you live? Im in az and have 3 kids.

You are going to be great Wenjea! Better than that, when all of this is over you will look great! I am trying to make more of all our meals now so I can freeze them for Hubby and the three kids for after surgery. I know I will not be able to be around food for a while. I seriourly could see myself crying through some meals at first...........I have to do no bread, no sugar for the two weeks before. Then luquids for 3 weeks after, then mushies for 2 weeks. Then we go on vacation the week after I get to go on solids. Pray for me, I know that will be tough! I am starting to mourn the loss of my friend, food. I just keep telling myself: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

I am 12 hours away from surgery--I cant believe it! Thanks for the thoughts and prayers ahead of time. I was definately thinking of our first group of banders today and praying they all have a successful operation!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
