did anyone have a food funeral?

Recommended Posts

I am not a big sweet eater, but ever since I was told to replace two meals with Protein Shakes starting Monday. I have been eating sweets like crazy. Mainly Cookies. Has anyone else been through something similar? Did you have a last meal? I said goodbye to the unhealthy stuff by eating some shrimp and grits.

I didn't think of it as a food funeral but in a way I guess you are right. Yes I did for me it was nachos, wings, deep fried pickles and beer. I said good-bye. I had the meal with a friend of mine that we have been through so many of life's challenges together. We discussed those times and what we could to as substitutions for eating. It was an enjoyable evening, but we both agreed we look forward to trying out some of our other possibilities. I had to laugh when out to lunch with a couple other friends earlier in the week. In jest, one said "instead of eating you can take up knitting." We got a good chuckle out of that. As I appreciate the talents and creativity of those that can knit I am not one of those people. I'll will be searching for alternatives.

I'm still 37 days out but I have a "bucket list" of foods and restaurants I want to hit before I have surgery. It's probably a bad idea but I figured it's saying goodbye to a good friend :-(

I did. but i didn't go nuts because I was afraid that I wouldn't loose enough and be denied for my insurance.and the day my insurance approved me was the same day that I had to start my two week diet. There are a few things that I'm dying for a bite of now but don't want to go in that direction.

I went through the same thing for almost a week I ate everything I love because I felt like a prisoners last meal. Looks like this is pretty normal from the sounds of the other posts. glad I am not the only one who got a little out of control at first.

I did but didn't go overboard because that would only add on more weight for me to lose before my surgery on the 26th. I started my liver shrink diet on the 12th and this is day three. I am down four pounds already.

Well, my food funerals are over, I had to start my preop diet. I started it on 3/10 and have already lost 7 pounds. Good luck to everyone on their preop diets.

It's going pretty good. I cheated tonight, cause my hubby got off work really late. I know that's no excuse, but I am human. Tomorrow will be a new day and I can start the process again. The last time I weighed I had lost ten pounds. I don't want to become obsessed with the scale, so I try to stay off it. I go back to see the doctor and dietitian on the 7th of April. I will be happy if I just lost a couple of pounds. A little is better than none. I have learned that this process isn't going to be easy. I have issues with "head hunger". Plus I think I have eat when I am bored. I can get thru this though. I know I'm not alone in this battle. How are you doing?

I am having the dilemma with watching what I'm eating vs is it really worth it? We are going on vacation in June and all I keep thinking about are the places that I love to eat! My 6th month of the 6 month diet is June. So, of course, I don't want to go nuts. However, at the same time I am quite certain that my willpower may have some faults that week. Sometimes it's so hard to say no. I'm thinking moderation is the key. A couple bites will ease the craving but not kill my weight loss. No more larges for me!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
