Were is all my Chattanoogians at?

My insurance does cover it. They have allowed a certain number of visits for a year.

She offers techniques for dealing with my relationship with food. She also has been helping me get to the bottom of why I turned to food in the first place. I am a stress/emotional eater, so I knew that I was never going to be successful with the band, or anything else diet related,if I didn't get help. I am currently a work in progress. I hadn't been in a while and could really tell that I am not doing the things that she and I talked about. I did really good the first few months, but I can tell that I am not doing that right now. I called to make myself an appointment.

thanks slim. i am thinking about seeing someone.

You can ask him. He might tell you. He told me once, but he doesn't like to tell. He said that he doesn't want us to get caught up in the numbers. I am sure it won't be much fill though. He likes to build on them a little at a time.

it bothers me that they dont want to tell. i mean what if something bad happened and i had to go to the er and they wanted to know how much i had in my band... and i said um, i dont know. not like they would know much about band anyway. sorry, apparently needed to vent about that.

it bothers me too. I thought about what if I have to go to another doctor? I sound ignorant about something that is in my body. Don't get me wrong, I see their side too. I know that they don't want us hung up on how much we have in our bands, but it is still info that I think we should be able to ask for and get without a problem.

I did not ask him how much he put in. One thing I noticed this time because I was paying attention to the monitor is that I could tell how big my opening was when I swallowed the barium. It was kind of weird - the opening looked small, but when the barium pooled up against the bottom part of the pouch, the opening flexed open and the barium fell right through. It helps to understand what is going on when I can see it in action.

If you ask Jennifer in private she will tell you how much is in your band. I don't see the big deal. I don't care how much is in there. But I think we have a right to know, especially if we ask.

Punkster - do you always post late? :)

I definately feel more restriction with my second fill. I am having to adjust what I eat - I have eaten twice so far where I ate Protein first and filled up before I moved on to fruit or veggie. I don't want to only eat meat.< /p>

Another topic - has anyone had any issues with back pain? I have never had back issues and as of about 2 weeks ago, my lower back started hurting. This weekend it has progressed to the point where I can barely move. I am going to clinic today to see what can be done. I am a little worried about what is going on. My step dad had back issues all his life and I do not want to go through that.

I am so ready for my fill tomorrow. I had actually gained some weight over the past few weeks. I have lost a few of the pounds back, but I have been really hungry lately.

cmexlr8-I haven't really noticed any back problems other than the original gas pains right after surgery. I hope that you get to feeling better soon.

punkster-are you at least feeling back to normal as far as your unfill?

I am doing good. I have had really good restriction the past week or so. I am just very unmotivated to workout. I really need to get back on the treadmill.

I competely understand Carrie. I haven't been on my exercise bike in a while. I have been walking at work, but not really enough to call it a true workout. I have got to do better.

so i was talking to brooke at support group and she said maybe i was still a little too tight so i think i am going to go back in for another small unfill. right now i can only eat soft things including fish and mushy veg like canned spinach, cooked carrots... that sort of thing. but fish is my main source of Protein now. so we will see what happens in the next few days. she said this may also be the reason my weight loss has stalled.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
