Marchies In April

Recommended Posts

Hello Gail. I had my surgery the same day you did, 3/7. Haven't lost hardly anything since surgery, only 6 pounds. Had my first fill 4/5. Thought I could feel something at first but then nothing. I haven't lost a pound since my fill. I am hoping the 2nd fill will be better. I have talked with a couple in the same boat. I have lost about 24 pounds but a lot of that was pre op diet. Sorry about the fill experience you had. My surgeon did mine and other that the sting of the numbing shot I didn't feel a thing. I have a 10cm band. I am looking forward to the next fill. How much have you lost since your first fill? I got mine earlier than you did which was a surprise to me. It is usually 6 weeks, I got mine at 4 wks. (from surgery date) I am having trouble with Portion Control right now. Which has always been a problem. Glad to hear you are doing well.

Hi Sugarbear,

I have lost approximately 27 lbs since since my all time high and about 1 month before surgery. I went on the liquid diet for about 2.5 weeks before surgery and lost about 7 lbs. Since my first and only fill I have lost about 2 lbs. (April 17th) since surgery, 12 pounds. So that comes in at about 1.75 pounds a week since surgery. That's a pretty good average I think. I am happy with it. Well, more would be nice but I'll take this any day as opposed to gaining!

At first it didn't seem like I got any more restriction than I had but the last couple of nights I have felt restriction/fullness.

Keep in touch and hang in there!

Gail

I don't get a lot of excersize maybe about 1/2 hr 3 times a week and that is just walking.

Hazelbunny - WOW, I can totally see the change....41 lbs is a great accomplishment!

TammyJ, Sign me up for the exercise challenge. I'm ready to get moving! I kicked off with a 1 hour hike today, and it felt really good. I've been walking, but want to get my circuit training, eliptical, and yoga going again consistantly. I was scared about eating again after my first fill too, especially after the incident, but I've had no problem with solids today. My next fill can't be before 6 weeks....hope that works.

Josiebies, glad you are feeling better. I'm feeling great. Haven't had any more problems. I can relate to the leftover issue. I've been filling up my freezer with little ziploc bags of leftovers. I might have to give up and learn to start throwing food away :omg:.

Well I haven't posted on her in a while and am on here again looking for help and support. I was scheduled for a fill two weeks ago and couldn't have it done. I walked into the place for the fluroscopy (sp?) and they told me the table wouldn't hold me. I almost died of embarrasment. My doctor knew my weight and told me he forgot that the table wouldn't hold me. Now I have to wait to get my fill in a hospital. I am very fustrated and put back some weight. I was able to keep the 33 lbs off I lost for so long but now 13 have come back. Now I feel like I made a mistake. I can eat anything and everything and have NO restriction at all. HELP ME BANDSTERS!!!!

Oh Bandstar that is just terrible. They should have a backup plan. Don't be embarrassed, they should be for not being able to service their patients with dignity. Keep your chin up.

Here is my progress from the last month. I can't really see that much of a difference.

The most difference is in my face but my DH would have a freaking heart attack if I posted my face on the internet - he is just sure that as soon as I have my face online someone is going to steal the image and use it in some porn image. I quess I should feel flattered....:faint:

You look great!:clap2: . Looks like you are bringing out those old cloths you never thought you would wear again. I know I am. The 3x's fit better and some 2x's are fitting as well. I feel like I am 120 lbs and that I want to show off. are you exercising???

Oh Sugarbear, I can really feel your frustration. I really hope your second fill will give you some restriction. This is only temporary and your losing days will come! Hang in there!

Hi Marchies!

Last night was my first time eating out at a restaurant...went to a suprise birthday party at a restaurant right next to the lake. It was so beautiful esp when the sun was setting.

Anyway, I was a little worried about what they would be serving and stuff but I did pretty well. I had a little smoked trout for an appetizer...never had trout but it was really good. Next was salad. I was worried about that because I've not tried lettuce since my surgery. Had a couple bites of that and no problem. Got baked sole for dinner and took that home after a couple bites. All in all, it went really well and I was so relieved.

I posted this question as a new thread but got no replies...I was wondering if anyone has lived with the band unfilled and was successful with their weight loss. I know the doc's say that we really see the weight loss after the fills but I was just curious.

Thanks everyone. Soon we'll have to be Marchies in May!

Virginia

I go to a support group 1x/month and one gal had lost 93 lbs since July and her claim to fame is SHE HAS HAD NO FILLS! She's my idol. she is sticking to the diet and 30-45 min exercise everyday. Sounds like you did well at the restaurant. I too went out to dinner last nite and the worst thing I did was have a piece of a mozzerala stick---ONLY TO BE DEFIANT. :biggrin1: LOL keep up the good work. 24 lbs for me. (6 pre-Op) BAAAADDDD back pains. Anyone else

I'm liking March into May as well. So far, 1 vote for Marchies in May and 1 vote for March into May. :)

I have to agree my ankles and feet don't hurt like they used to. But because of a serious increase in activity my knee is giving me pain. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My question is what over the counter pain medication do people use? I loved my ibuprofen and know that's a no-no. Tylenol doesn't do much for me unless there's a little #3 and I can't do that everyday. I don't know much about Aleve, any thoughts? Is that okay not to irritate the stomach?

Throwing food away is the hardest thing! But I can do it! I allow my daughter to throw away whatever she doesn't want to eat. Now I need to practice for myself what I preach to her.

How frustrating for you!

You haven't made a mistake! You'll get some restriction and this episode will fade into the past. In the meantime try to get back to basics about eating the right foods and exercising. Even a little exercise is better than nothing.

And give your doctor a piece of your mind when you see him. :angry That was so not cool.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
