April 2014 pre-op group

Recommended Posts

Okay I'm getting nervous.

Everybody has a different experience. I'm 16 days post op and I haven't vomited once. The pain is real, but its surgery- you have to heal. My MAIN problem is that sneezing hurts, but if I put a pillow in my stomach, it hurts less.

Congrats!!! I'm on day four of my pre-op diet and I'm not weighing myself until next Monday the day I started this diet. i hope I will have lost as much as you have that's awesome!!1 Are you or hav eyou experienced any nausea, diahrrea, or lightheadness? I just spoke with my doctor's nurse and she took down my info and said she will get back with me. I just want to know how long this is going to last or if it is a sign that I'm not getting enough Protein. My date is April 21st, I'm right behind you and I wish you all the best!!!

Hope you feel better soon. Keep drinking the fluids. Being dry is what makes me light headed. Your are in the home stretch now!!!

I'm so glad to have this group. Hearing the highs and lows shows me what I could expect once I start my pre op Monday. The 21st is coming fast.

started my preop diet today- and was so sick =[. what does everyone think about freezing the shakes into popsicles to make them more enjoyable. same thing with Isopure after surgery. i know for me right now its a struggle to even get 30 oz of Water and 1 shake down. i also feel insanely on edge.. like cranky or snappy as well as very out of it and spacey =[. what is everyone going through and feeling during preop?? all my diet consists on is Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder yogurt - fatfree broth and Clear Liquids.< /p>

anyone have recommended meal plans or example layouts of how they are managing?

You are absolutely correct!!! We all will have different experiences because we are all uniquely individual. It's just so awesome to be able to share our experiences in an effort to be prepared for our own ups and downs as we undergo our surgeries.Do you have a pillow that you can press gently on your incision when you have to cough or sneeze? I've heard that that helps greatly with the pain it kinda protects the incision from the pressure. I love this site and I appreciate you sharing this with me. I have a high tolerance for pain and i'll probably be posting something similar to your post. Have a great day!!!

Thank You, I must admit that I am feeling much better today that I did yesterday. I spoke to my nutritionist late yesterday afternoon and found out that it was the sodium free broth that was causing the lightheadness. Today I added just a pinch of sea salt to the broth and it was much better. I got out and walked my five miles today and did a little aerobics on my WIIfit and I really feel great. It also helped that after I weighed myself I've lost 7 1/2 lbs since Monday. I'm riding on cloud nine now and I'm ready for the 21st to hurry up and get here so I can get on with my life!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
