Anyone had their gall bladder removed while being sleeved? Apparently, I have gall stones and am having my gall bladder removed at the same time that I'm sleeved. Will I be extra sore? Is the recuperation any different than just being sleeved? Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am 7 months out from Sleeve surgery and I now have to get my gallbladder out next week. I wish I would have had it out along with my sleeve! You are lucky. I hate having to go in for another surgery. :) With rapid weight loss this can cause gallstones which I started having symptoms a few weeks ago. I called doctor to be safe and they gave me an ultrasound and found large ones. So I think you are lucky. One less thing to worry about. Good luck with your surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you Awold0, that's what the doctor said. I would have to have it taken out eventually, so I might as well get it out during the sleeve procedure. Be well and good luck with your gall bladder surgery :).

I actually had mine taken out in 08 and it was a piece of cake.... I literally had it done, came home the same day and slept, then was feeling absolutely fine. Wanted to go back to work the next day but the dr wouldn't release me for a week. So the next day I cleaned my house, etc.

Just to give another point of view, I had my gallbladder out in 2010 -- and it was worse pain than the VSG I just had on 10/1/13 in terms of soreness. The recovery time for the gallbladder was shorter, though.

As an example, with the gallbladder surgery I could absolutely NOT get in and out of bed or lay down in bed (comfortably) for about a week, and I slept on a chair but with VSG I was able to get in and out of bed without an issue.

Good luck with your surgery! Having the gallbladder out now will be a blessing later on, I hear.

I'm having my gallbdder removed during surgery too! I have had the worst gallbladder attacks for a few months now. I don't know if I am more excited to be sleeved or have my gallbladder removed!! :)

I just had my gallbladder done on 2/14/14. I went back to work today (2/17). I'm a little sore but nothing major. I hope to be sleeved late this spring but the gall bladder could not wait until then.

I had my VSG and gallbladder removed at the same time on 12/19/13...... I dontknow if the recovery was harder or not really, but it did generally take me longer to recouperate then any other surgery I had in my life. It wasn't due to pain, but I had low energy and felt off and tired for 2 weeks. My larger incision was pretty sore for a few weeks too, so I dont know if it was because of were it was or from them sucking 2 things out of it instead of 1. LOL

But after 2 weeks I started feeling better everyday. By week 5 it was like nothing had been done.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
