Surgery was May 19 of 2014. I'm down over 120 pounds and loving life! I followed the rules exactly for the first 5 months. Ate what I was told to eat, walked each day, ect. Now I'm a little more relaxed with the rules. I still go to the gym a few times a week and eat small portions and try to get a lot of Protein but I'll have a beer once in a while and I do eat carbs. :)

This has been a long hard journey but I can't even put into words how much surgery has changed my life for the better. I can't wait to see what's in store for my future. :)

Today is a big deal for me. One year ago I had surgery. I was scared but knew something had to change.

One year later I am 80lbs down, ... And 15 lbs up... 22 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby girl.

I'm really proud of this accomplishment. I worked hard and now I get to be rewarded by becoming a mom. (Pretty amazing.)

Sorry for the terrible pictures. They are all I have on my phone.

I'm so excited to finally get to post on this thread!!! My surgery was on December 11th. I've lost 62 lbs since surgery but 100 lbs overall!! I still have 115 lbs to go but I'm halfway there now! :D

I had surgery on 8/20/2014. My start weight was 236, surgery weight was around 208, and current weight is 168. I've lost 68 pounds and feel great. But I still have about 38 more pounds to go till I get to my goal weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
