Hello All,

Everything has been going fine, been able to get in all my fluids, all my Protein. Today I went to take the Celebrate chewable Vitamin C and I threw it up. Sooo scared, I called my doctor and said that it's nothing to worry about, that particular Vitamin C is to acidic and didn't agree with your stomach, so I will stop taking it.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah, bariactric Vitamins suck big time (sorry for crude expression, but it is the truth). I gagged, dry heaved and vomited them until I said enough is enough (said like Samuel Jackson in snakes on a plane). Try switching to adult Flinstones or trader joe chewable tablets. Any regular brand will work, but make sure it meets the recommended RDA amount by your surgical center. In my case, that was 200%.

Same thing happened to me. I switched to Flintstones complete and as soon as I could started Viactiv chocolate chewy Calcium. No more problems.

Has anyone heard about or tried the Gummy style Vitamins? I am pre-op but the smell of some of the tablet style vitamins is just obnoxious so I have been recently successful at regularly taking vitamins with the new gummy type. I know, I know, I'm 45, it is what it is:-D Reading about your preference for chewables makes me wonder if gummies are an option too?

I see a lot of people post about gummy vitamins. My Nut said I wasn't to take them Bc they are too sugary and some ppl do not readily absorb them in that form and they just come right out on their stools.

Other people take them so I guess it just depends on if you doc's office ok'd them

Bariatric Vitamins are disgusting. My doctor's office prescribes them but I have much better luck with the following:

  • Trader Joe's High Potency Multi chewable
  • Kirkland (Costco) chocolate calcium citrate chews with Vitamin D or Trader Joe's Calcium citrate
  • Injectable Vitamin B12 (prescription from my doctor, inject them at home once a month, very easy, no pain)
  • Vitamin C Ester (not ascorbic acid so no tummy problems), Kirkland/Cosco

Thanks, I was thinking that would be the case, too much sugar and hard to digest. It's just, well I take them I feel like I just discovered the PB&J, you know?

Well, I do take the gummies and my doc never mentioned that I shouldn't. Love them! Lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
