So I was proactive in starting my liquid diet two days early, with today being day one. My Pre-op isn't until tomorrow (1/28/14)......It's not as bad as I thought. If anything I'm having trouble trying to consume the daily intake of the list provided to me by my nutritionist. Either that or I've completely wrapped my head around the whole idea of my lifestyle change. :)

My new mantra is: Nothing tastes as good as I want to feel and look.

Thanks for letting rant. Lol

Good luck to you! I started on January 17th. My surgery is this Thursday. The first few days were really hard, but it got easier after that.

What kind of weight loss should I expect on the 2 week liquid pre-op?

It all depends. I haven't gotten on a scale yet and won't until the day before my surgery. However I have noticed a change in my face and that's my skinny jeans (yeah skinny jeans on a Thick Chick) are fitting a little looser.

I'm participating in a long term study as part of my lap band surgery. The nurses told me that the average weight loss on the two week liquid phase was between 10 to 12 pounds. If the participants didn't loose a minimum of 8 pounds, their surgery was automatically postponed. We were given five Protein packets a day for fourteen days, totaling 800 calories a day. Other than Water, no other liquids (broth, juice, etc) were allowed. I did what I had to do bc I was getting a free surgery out of the study. I lost 17 pounds. Best of luck to you! NOTHING tastes as good as HEALTHY feels!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
