My surgery is scheduled!

Hi!

I have been participating in a weight loss program with Cherokee Nation Health Services. I have had some success on my own with diet change and exercise, but I have had this sort of success before and then gained it all back and more. Now I'm furthering my weight loss journey and having the gastric sleeve surgery! My surgery is finally scheduled for February 25, 2014! I have been working towards this date since June 2012! I am a nurse and have had a large amount of education pertaining to weight loss surgery. I also have personal experience with weight loss surgery. My mother, aunt, and cousin as well as several close friends have had weight loss surgery, including gastric sleeve surgery. I have a great support system with my family, friends, and my fiance, but more support is always welcome! Thank you for taking time to read my story!

Ok! First morning post-op! I feel great! No gas pain, gas in bowels or gas from surgery! I have tolerable pain in my abdomen with 5 lap sites. I've had no nausea, but I have Zofran ordered routinely so that has helped. I have walked the halls at least every 4 hours with no trouble. I hear that the pain is worse on days 2,3, & 4 post-op, but I am very optimistic! I wish everyone's recovery could go this well! I haven't passed gas yet, but I don't feel pressure or the need. I have a barium swallow scheduled with the surgeon this morning. Then I'll be allowed more clear liquids (not just ice). If I tolerate the liquids well, I'll be discharged this afternoon! No regrets here! Wishing luck to those going to surgery today!

I am now 1 week post-op! I have lost 10 lbs since surgery 2/25! I am still on clear liquids and still getting to know my pouch. My first follow up with the surgeon is on Monday. I've not had too much pain and I get around and do most things by myself, except for lifting. I simply can not wait to move on to puréed diet! Also, I know my calorie intake is very low, but I can not wait to start back doing my Insanity workouts! I feel like I'm being lazy sitting on the couch! Too much ice and snow outside to do any walking. No regrets here!

Keep up the good work Lindsey, your on the right track. Water and walking; best advice I can offer.

Welcome to the club:)
