Happening Quickly - Should I worry?

Thank you for the advice. I had a friend that had the band a few years back and lost a lot of weight, but now is bigger then when she started. I couldn't understand why until I started researching this for my journey. She was always throwing up and I realize now it was because her bites were too big and she wasn't taking the time to wait for the bite to clear the band. She was also "eating around the band," as my nurse told me people do when they drink when they eat to get the food to clear the band...I know I have to be committed and ready for big changes in my habits - I just hope I don't mess up or something goes wrong.

Believe it or not, just as B-52 mentioned above... we do research and in a sense have a lot of "book knowledge" about the band and how it will affect our future lives. But as you heal, and get fills, you get a little more restriction each time, so it's a learning experience that you learn along the journey. With each fill I got, and the restriction increased, it became a whole new learning experience, and you quickly learn to respect your band. It just really depends how determined you are to be compliant and determined to reach success. You MUST respect THE BAND, your SUCCESS is dependent upon it, if you can grasp that and apply it to your daily life, you will do fine. :)

Most of us would have killed for short notice. :)

Great point...maybe I should be more thankful instead of worrisome!

I really appreciate your sound advice...I will definitely do my best to respect the band.

I'm really glad that I read this! I to had my first consultation on the 23rd. I told them that I'd let them know Monday whether or not I'll get the band. I've also been reading...too much and I'm getting paranoid about the whole thing. I'll be a self pay and want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing but how can? As everyone has pointed out it's something you have to learn to do.

I know how you feel, which is why I made myself commit at first consult and paid for the physical same day! (I am also self-pay) I am so lucky to have found this forum because it makes me realize that this is not the same for everyone and I will have to respect my band and keep learning on my journey. Best of luck on yours!

I've been doing this sense October ..and still don't have a surgery date yet.....?????

Are you going through insurance? I am self-pay, so that could be the difference...also, where are you doing it, if you don't mind me asking? Could be a higher demand in your area?? Just throwing out ideas...

Oklahoma City ..Insurance paid..approved Dec 6th,,2013 :-(......

My understanding is that you do have a much longer wait than self-pay because it's a process with insurance....good news is that it is much less out of your pocket vs. what I have to pay. :-)

I'm sad..starting to get a chip on my shoulder ...thinking they don't want to do it ????

Keep your chin up..probably has way more to do with the red tape with your insurance then it does with your surgeon. It will all work out and this will just be a blip on your radar when you are post op and feeling like a new you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
