Okay, I'm 3 months out now. Since surgery I've had the feeling of being full after 3 or 4 bites of food and I figured this was normal. I'm now at 3 months out and I still can't eat more than 3 or 4 bites of anything. I've never had any nausea just this full feeling and a pain right below my breastbone. I always place a heating pad on my stomach after I eat because it just helps ease the pain. Does anyone else have this or know what this is??? And, should i still be having this at 3 months out. I'm meeting with a personal trainer now and he doesn't think that is normal. I only get in about 750 calories a day, if that. And I'm never able to get in my fluids.

When I was 3 months out I was the same. I also had and have the feeling just below my breast bone. This is when I have had enough and stop eating. I still measure my food but never finish it. If it was slider food then yes I could eat more. Since I stay away from slider foods I always have this feeling after I eat about 4 to 6 bites. I think now that I am 6 months out it really is the same for me. When I eat Protein and veggies I get this feeling. If I eat let's say pureed sweet potatoes then I could eat more. I too was eating around 600-800 calories a day in the beginning. I am around 1,000 a day now. On work out days I am more like 1200.

I have a slight stricture that kept me from eating more than 3-4 bites at a time at your stage, too. It wasn't until about 6-7 months that I could eat 10-12 bites. I like it like that, so I chose not to have it stretched. :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
