scale hasn't moved since i started soft foods

Recommended Posts

Sleeved 12/20..started soft foods 1/6..havnt lost a pound since..I've stuck to the list..seems I can only tolerate a few tablespoons at a time ..I try to stick to the schedule but I always feel stuffed from previous meal...perhaps this is what the restrictions is all about but I never felt stuffed like this on Soups etc. Can someone chime in? Am I doing something wrong? OK to constantly feel full? Should I skip meals to feel hunger?

Your doing everything right and it's so totally normal! Almost everyone goes through an initial period of loss followed by an annoying slow down or stop for a while. Your body is in shock and needs a minute to catch up. This could last for a few days to a few weeks so even though it's scary and frustrating try not to worry. It just means you're on the right track!

You're experiencing the much dreaded and always frustrating 3-week stall. Almost everyone stalls out at 3 weeks. I had great loss for the first 17 days and then it's been periods of loss followed by longer periods of no loss. I think this is just the way it's going to be.

I always felt I could eat more Soup, I just stopped with my measured amount. You definitely feel the restriction when you eat dense Protein.

Your experience sounds completely normal. No worries!

Our doctor advised us not to eat unless hungry and relax with it all, and eat Proteins. Working!!!!!! Nothing to plan and taking it easy. Doing great.

If I only ate when I was hungry I would starve to death... especially in the early weeks. I ate on a schedule or I would never get all that Protein in.

Ditto! I am five weeks out and would never eat if I waited till I was hungry.

I'm on purées, eat on a schedule because I'm not hungry. I have 3 meals a day (2Tb) Water and Protein Shakes.

Today I had 3 meals and skipped the recommended snacks..I feel a lot better today...I think that the plan is just too much for my teeny tummy..especially if I need to stay hydrated and have room for all these nasty Vitamins.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />

With no fundus you cannot ever 'feel' hungry! There are no cravings anymore so it's best to stick to a plan to stay hydrated at least - for me 4 days post op tea and fluids seem to go down easily but when I tried pureed stuff today I couldn't finish more than a 1/4 cup in 30 mins and was stuffed! :)

Way to go! Could you share what you are having for those 3 meals please - Thx

I myself am doing 6-9 oz of Tea with milk and then an hour or so later 1 half boiled egg. For lunch I had 3 oz of mince in bolognese sauce with 2 teaspoons of pea puree today and something similar for dinner (I mix it upeveryday so don't get bored) with some tea again around 6pm. I'm totally stuffed with this much and don't have any room left for any shakes or anything else! And I'm just 1.1 weeks post op :)

For Breakfast I have half of a baby bel triangle. For lunch 2Tb humus. For dinner 2Tb refried Beans with a bit of cheese. Alternated last week for dinner lobster bisque I bought at the store premade. I ate those same things for a week. This week I didn't buy more humus and lobster bisque. Tired of those. So I've had half of a Colby jack cheese stick for lunch. I haven't puréed any of my own food. Oh I did cook taco Soup. I picked out a few beans and some juice and smashed them up. I'm surprised your eating already at 1 week out. Every dr is different. Good luck to you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
