Here's something I hadn't considered

Recommended Posts

Soup. Not broth, not creamed Soups, but chicken and vegetable Soup. I had some wonderful soup with ground chicken and tarragon, spinach, carrots and mushrooms. It was delicious, and the chunky bits went down very easily, but eating the broth too was a challenge. I know we are not supposed to drink and eat at the same time, but is there ever a point when I will be able to eat soup comfortably? I am 3 weeks out.

Thanks!

Amy

I have milk on my Cereal and drink it at the same time...Otherwise I would not get the Protein I need...I don't do it any other time of the day...But we all eat Soup and not think about the juice...K

Thanks, K! The couple of times I forgot and sipped a bit of Water while eating, the food came right back up! I guess I just need to give myself time to heal before I will be able to eat Soup and not think about it! :)

My plan allows zero Soup (with chunks) ever because of the "no drinking while you eat" rule. We were allowed cream type Soups at the full liquid stage but that's it.

My program falls in line with this as well.

I was also told no Soup again ever...Same with cereal. However, Chili is ok. I asked my NUT what that was all about. She couldn't really give me an answer.

I eat Soup often. My NUT never said it's taboo. I'm 4 mos out and honestly the only issue I have is not being able to finish all of the broth but I can live with that.

I love laksa. I eat the prawns and fish, some veggies, a noodle or two, and a couple slurps of the Soup. No problems. Except the amount that gets left behind. But I care less about that as time goes on.

Tom yum and other Thai Soups are big favorites too.

Wow. So glad my NUT never banned Soup for me! I love it. Our local organic store makes amazing gluten free soup.

I am 3 days post op and I am sipping on broth now, but I'm being moved over to stage 2 by lunch. The Jello here makes me sick and today is the first day I have been able to drink the broth at all. I was told I can eat Soups (including creamy soups). I'm just looking forward to eating without pain!

How do you handle the spicy Soup. I love curry broth but not sure I could handle the spiciness.

I was in the hospital and didn't eat for the first 4 days after surgery. Drinking made me sick too. It is true what they say that every day it gets a little better. I can eat and drink without problems now. (Just not at the same time!)

My NUT also didn't ban soup or Cereal with milk for that matter. I'm almost 6 months out. I have no problem with eating these. I think the fact that you're chewing and mashing up the soup ingredients along with the broth makes this different from eating solid foods and drinking fluids separately. That's just my opinion...I may be wrong but I have not had any problems so far. As time progresses, you will figure out what works best for you.

I love spicy food and eat it all the time with no ill effects. Laksa is mild as milk compared to some of the food I eat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
