Refilled and needing support

Recommended Posts

I had surgery almost 5 years ago, lost 80 total pounds and kept 70 off for over 3 years. However last fall due to stress I had to have band completely unfilled and gained 50 lbs back. Now I am in a better place ready to get back to my healthy weight, hoping to lose even more. Just had a major fill and should be close to my sweet spot. However, I need some input and support to get back on track because quite honestly, I have forgotten everything that I should be doing. Any help, suggestions or input will be GREATLY appreciated!

High Protein, low carb. Liquids right after the fill to get the swelling down and then ease into mushies then solids. I get a fill Monday so I'll be doing the same. Back to eating slow and chewing well. And no Water with your meal. Good luck!!!

Hi there, so glad you are back in sync -- sorry for all the stress and life complications but good for you for getting right back on track again with a fresh fill and support here. This is totally the right place for support and input. Best wishes!

....join the throng.....'forgot' isn't quite the word I use for myself.....'willfuly ignore important details' is more accurate despite my not quite having 'forgot'...[sound of one hand smacking forehead].....

good luck and Cheers on your journey

I am recently "back on the chain gang" also! Just got a fill about 2 weeks ago. I'm still not where I was 5 years ago restriction-wise, but it's much better and my GI came back good. I'm going back for a meeting with the "team" to go over things and I have a food log I have to keep (the log helps TONS). Hopefully we can all support each other through this journey!

Good luck!!

As you get closer to that "sweet Spot" as you call it...it is more important for me to learn how to "listen" to my band, that is learn the foods that are tolerable, obey all the signals unless pay the consequences....develop those new habits in order to co-exist with the band to where it is functioning at it's peak, and less of me doing the work...just learn to comply, which can be very hard at times, but rewarding in the end.

Fighting the band, I never won....

Well thought I was having a major setback...had to go see dr due to Water not stsying down. Luckily only a small unfill. I was able to drink a cup of water as well as eat two chicken nuggets for lunch! This is what my sweet spot felt like before. So glad to feel it right again....had lost 12 lbs since Tuesdy and even though it was mostly water weight, it was great to see the number down and gave me the boost to let me know I can do this!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
