MFP activity calories

Recommended Posts

Anyone else feel like my fitness pal gives you way too much credit for calories burned?? It says I burn about 800 during an hour of Zumba....I feel like that's too high. It also says I burn about 700 during a 30 minute run. Too much???

I know what you mean -- those numbers can be ridiculous. I forget the exact calories burned for an hour of gardening but it was absurd. Some people put in a 1 for each regular exercise activity so there are no calorie additions to the day. I have tried that from time to time as I don't like to see the huge amount of calories MFP thinks I should be eating.

That's what I do. I walk 30-60-90 mins and put in 1 calorie. Still have a record of what I've done.

I dont track my exercise on mfp because of this, i have a seperate calendar i write my exercise and weekly weights on, and when i go for a check up i just take it with me. I dont like when you put in your exercise your goals change (calories, Protein, fat, etc.) I dont like that at all.

I override MFP's calorie count with the readout on the elliptical, which I adjust each time to my current weight. Elliptical reading is always way less than MFP'S reading for calories burned.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
