Got my Bariatric Fusion Vitamin soft chews in the mail. It took like 2 weeks to get here so now I know to prefer them early. I got the mixed berry. It was actually really tasty. Definitely sweet. A little softer than a starburst chew, more like the consistency of a chewy caramel without it sticking to your teeth. Doesn't smell like funky Vitamins. Smells sweet. Like starburst. The cool thing is you take 3 per day and it's all-in-one, which my surgeons office said was excellent. Way better than taking 9 or 10 vitamins per day.

Sounds like the mixed berry ones are better than the tropical ones then. Good to know. And I guess since it took so long I should get on with ordering them online. Since I need them so soon. Whoooops. Here's to procrastination!

Good luck w/surgery. You'll do fine. Saying a prayer for a perfect surgery and recovery. Keep us informed.

I'll be in surgery tomorrow at this time. I just posted this somewhere else too. But it's cuz I'm excited and freaked. SF that IV is causing my stomach to turn. I know you understand.

Ask them to numb you first. :) they did when I had my egd scope done and it was awesome.

I had my surgery on February 4 in OKC by Dr. Broussard at WeightWise. I was cash pay but it still took a few months for me to complete the requirements for surgery. Turns out I have severe sleep apnea. Anyway my first appt with him was in October 4. I lost 18 pounds pre op and I've lost 12 since surgery. Not too bad! I'm 5'5". My starting weight was 243. The first few days I was in a little pain but it was under control. Drinking seems to get easier everyday. Dr. B wants me to drink b/t 64 and 96 oz per day. I'm getting about 80 oz. I'm ready for Tuesday when I can begin soft foods.

Good luck to those that are about to do the surgery!

Good luck to you!

Actually I'm from Texas but the surgeons in my area don't have near the experience as Dr. B.

. That's funny, I lived in the Sherman/Denison tx area for over 10 yrs and moved across the red river into Durant. So I have a 3 hr drive to my surgery.

Just got a note from my surgeon that EGD biopsy results are okay. Have gastritis (irritation of stomach) but no ulcers and not h. pylori. Woo Hoo!. So, insurance has paperwork for approval.

I'm still praying to have surgery on February 24th or March 3rd.

P.S. I love liquid diets, said no one ever!

This months dietician appt was today. Actually lost 3 pounds after a whacky month of fluctuations and thinking I wouldn't lose anything at all. I Have to lose 10 pounds before the preOp appt in three weeks so dietician has shifted gears. I am now on a different regiment. 1300 calories per day with one Meal Replacement with Protein Shake. Because my blood sugars have been dropping down into the 40's she wants me to add a carb to the shake and make sure I get at least 15g of carbs per meal. Does anyone have a good Protein shake recipe with an added fruit? ??

My fave thing to do, no matter which flavor shake you choose is use frozen strawberries instead of ice cubes. Say u have banana powder and almond milk, pop in strawberries. Not ice. Yum

Hey there!!! Yeah I'm really excited, but dang am I wiped out. It's like this lack of calories just caught up with me today. No energy at all. I was a bit disappointed. I was told to call today between 2-5 and they would tell me when to be at the hospital for surgery Tuesday. Nope. I have to call Monday. So I won't know what time til Monday afternoon. Also, this pre-op diet stinks. Just getting that out there. In case nobody knew. Lol

I can't see the moon for the clouds, but maybe they'll part for me.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
