New Year, new goals!

Recommended Posts

Howdy! I was banded 5/24/13, and had a weight of 275 before pre-op diet. Much of the weight is emotional baggage being supported by my love of food. In 2013, I decided it was time to finally let go of the baggage for good. As of this morning I was 244.5. 31 pounds! It has made an incredible difference for me, I'm winded less, more energetic and feeling better about myself. I slipped up a lot in December with all the celebrating, but I feel recharged to get back on track. I'm at a weight I have not seen for about 3 years ago, when my mother passed. It was a tough time, but I got through. Next goal is 215, which was seen last about 8 years ago. So close! :-)

Sorry to read about you losing your momma......the only person in the world who loves you more than anybody else. I'm blessed to still have my mother..... she's 89 and still lives on her own, still drives to church every day, and still goes to WORKOUT FIVE DAYS A WEEK. Yes, 89 and belongs to a gym...... I thought your post was interesting bc we all know "what weight we were when....." I reached my all time highest weight in January of 2012...... 327 pounds. I am almost to the weight I was when I delivered my first child 24 years ago..... 229. My next goal is my wedding weight.... 187. Here's to you reaching your goal and me reaching mine. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

we had surgery at the same time. i also lost my mother on 11-12-13. she had dementia but the one thing she remembered oddly is that i had wls. so when i visited she would always ask me how it was going. I just didn't count on how emotional wt. loss was going to be. Everything in our life effects us one way or another. i am finding strenghs i didn't know existed. especially when one of my eating triggers rears its ugly head. so stick in there you will do fine. healthy eating to you

We are doing this thing!

Stress is a killer. Literally, it's not just the weight gain there are so many areas of our body that chronic stress and emotional upset affect.

My wish for us all in 2014 is that along with making our personal goals, we all take the time to take care of and love ourselves.

When we do that, we combat stress. Speaking from personal experience in the face of extreme trauma and stress, taking the time to care for and show yourself some compassion and love is a hard thing to do.

In 2014 make time for YOU as well as others. That is my personal goal this year :)

Happy New Year to All.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
