Is this normal? Also, I have a hematoma under one of my incisions--he siad it will open and drain--can it get ANY grosser?

Ugh. Discouraged and lacking ANY energy.

Hi Kim... It gets better. I felt awful about the first month and I had no energy. But now 4 months out and a 40lb loss I feel just fine. Have patience and do everything right, like drinking all your Water and so on and so on and the time will fly and you will feel lots lots better... HANG IB THERE...Janie

By the end of your second week, I think you'll feel much better. Congratulations on the 12lbs!! Are you walking? That really did help, but I understand. This last banding - all I wanted to do was sleep. I had some awful bruising with both these most recent surgeries too. :D

Did you mention a GROSS hematoma???? Don't forget... my nickname is Gross Darcy and I'll be expecting a picture when that puppy opens up! J/K So sorry you are having a hard time and sending you some whomping big healing vibes!

BTW... Congratulations on the loss of poundage!!!! That has to be the icing on the hematoma...yes????

Ah, Kimberlilly, give it a couple of days and you will feel 100% better. You have probably overdone it, and need to rest up a bit more. Surgery is hard work, and healing takes time! So take a nap, and then get up, walk around the house, and go down for another nap. You'll be better in no time!

Um, well, yeah, it can get grosser. Just ask DeLarla. :D

Thanks for all the help--I just am not used to feeling soooo bad for so many days in a row!

Had a test today after I got back from Green Bay--acutally felt like I did pretty well---and have an overpowering "who the heck cares?' additude anyway--

Came home, put on my pajamas, and am lounging.

Darcy--

If you want, I will send you a 45 second video of my incision once I start to look like Alien 2~

ha ha

Hi Kim,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I had a slow recovery, too. I felt sooo exhausted and felt like a whimp. BUT I am 3 months out and have my energy back and more. I feel so much better and am so glad that phase is behind me. Hoping your rough phase passes quickly. :D

Really???? Awesome! Thank goodness I'm stocked up on popcorn! I have a big screen T.V.... it's going to be family video night! :D

Seriously... if you suddenly find yourself busting out in tears for no apparent reason.... that's pretty normal too!

(((hugs)))

Tes Delarla is the queen of hematomas and leaking wounds I'm sure she has some great advice but just as the rest have said it does take time to feel 100%. My problem was not having food and being on liquids 3 week post op I think that added to me being so tired all the time..no food = no energy and surgery takes alot out of a person...each day wil get better and better!

Kimberlilly

When I first had my surgery, I was also surprise that I did not feel all that great. Alexandra has great advised take it easy and you will be feeling better before you know it. One of my band sister also a problem with her incision leaking. For your health KISS(Keep it Simple) until everything is healed. I am sure in the end you'll be thankful you had the surgery and this will be a distanct memory.

Good luck,

Christine

Kim, your body has been through a little battle. And the anesthesia takes a toll also. Please give yourself time to recoup. It will get better day by day. Also, be sure that you are drinking enough Water. That can make you feel weak and dizzy. Congratulations on the super weight loss!:D

Just a wee update on your favorite whine-in-heimer!

Today is better! I lounged around--made my husband take the boy to school and pick him up--picture this--it's midnight last night--he came to bed and I asked him, "do you have Denny's lunch made?" He says "no"

I ask: "do you have his snack made?"

he says "no"

I ask: do you have his uniform ready?

he says "no but he's ready.

What the hell does that mean? I was up at five getting him all squared away--MEN! I swear, if I didn't love mine so much I would kill him in his sleep! Ha ha JK

Anyhoo--feeling better today--nothing spewing from my midsection yet and I have just decided that that litte mess will just reabsorb and go away. I can't have any more drama out of this bod for now!~~~~~

Kimber-lilly,

I can totally relate. I had a big hematoma too and about week 2 it decided to burst!!! Here I am making Breakfast at this big fancy Bed and Breakfast taking care of guests and I look down and the front of my blouse looked like I had been shot. I hadn't even noticed it! I had no clue that would happen and didn't have time to go to the docs for a day or two. When my doc did finally see it he was THRILLED! Said it was an excellent sign that things would heal correctly and threw me on more antibiotics. I had hated the Mexico ones and had tossed them when I got home from Mexico so I was kind of relieved to get some improved tasting american antibiotics. I leaked for about 2 weeks and just kept it loosely bandaged. It sucked but it never really hurt. Just annoying... Best wishes and I know you'll feel much better soon. Teresa

Hi Kimber-lilly,

I also had a huge hematoma under one incision. I got so scared when the incision opened that I paged the doctor 4 times in a little more than an hour. Once it drained it healed within days. I just kept a small waterproof bandage on it and changed it daily. No antibiotic ointment or anything special. So don't get scared like I did if this happens to you.

You will start feeling so much better real soon (like another week) and this will barely be a memory for you. Good luck on your new adventure. You won't be sorry!

Gail

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
