Is seafood okay?

Recommended Posts

I've been cleared for baked fish this week and have clearance for meat, pork and chicken next week. What I can't seem to find it is when I'm cleared for seafood. My aunt arrives tonight from Seattle with fresh crab, salmon and cod and I would love to have some Dungeness crab fresh from the Atlantic!

That's the plan, I'm just hoping they're open. I just found it odd that on all of the guidelines I've been given, seafood has not been addressed.

I seem to remember that mine was baked whitefish first and then others, but not what order. Sorry. :-(

I think fish is one of the easiest Proteins to digest. Much easier to get down than chicken, beef or pork. I'm 19 months post op and very rarely eat red eat or pork any more....I do eat alot of chicken but I prefer fish, shrimp or crab for my Protein. It just sits much lighter and goes down easier.

I'm 6 weeks out and have had tilapia twice and it was really good and sat very well

I'm 2 weeks, 2 days out. I've had broiled scrod. I also had some clam chowder. I threw all the solids in my magic bullet, pureed them, and threw them back into the broth. The scrod made 5 meals, and it was a small piece. The chowder made 3!

My nut had no problem with them, except telling me that chowder wasn't a good choice nut wise.

If you are on purée then you should be fine if you purée it. If you are on soft, just avoid rubbery ones like squid or overlooked shellfish. Chew very well.

When is sushi permitted? I'll eventually ask my nut but just wondering how everyone fared with it and how early they were able to safely manage it?

I'm 2 weeks out today and can start flaky fish on jan 8 or so- can't wait!

Sushi is soft food but the rice and the nori will be a problem so stick to sashimi and know it is a great source of Protein. Try more tender fish like salmon or tuna and skip the octopus and sea urchin for now.

Thanks for the feedback -- my concern is due to its raw state -- I know there are cooked sushi roll options

Same risk with raw as always. Make sure it's fresh. The best tip for sushi is go when it is very busy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
