Scheduled for Feb/Looking for Online Friends

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for VSG in mid-February in NJ, and looking for some online friends to be in touch with before and after surgery. I am 34, married, mom to a 4 year old and a lawyer. My starting weight is 248, though my highest weight ever was 265. I am still apprehensive about the surgery, but also excited to change.

I've enjoyed all the WLS videos and blogs I've come across thus far, and know that a key factor in others' success has been the support and accountability provided by online friends.

Let me know if you're interested!

Stacy

Hi SLK248, I am from Mississippi and would love to share journeys with you. I am a professional woman, married with 2 adult children and scheduled for the Sleeve Feb. 11th. My highest weight was 260 and my current weight is 250 but I hope to lost 10 or 15 more pounds by surgery date. I am 5'4" and hoping to get down to 130. I am not too concerned about the numbers, just very motivated to get to a healthy weight and be able to buy clothes in a smaller cuter size. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks for the links ribearty, and hi Sandee and 1day!

My insurance changes on January 1, so I am in a somewhat of a holding pattern until I verify the new insurer's requirements for my plan. In the meantime, I have seen my PCP and requested a med necessity letter, seen a psychiatrist to request clearance and scheduled an eval with the surgeon's affiliated nutritionist. I am assuming that I will be required to document 3 months of a medically supervised diet, but I can't know exactly what is needed to document that until the first week of January.

Otherwise, I am doing a good deal of research and reading to learn about the surgery (that's how I get comfortable with things), and trying to adopt some of the habits I'll need to rely on post surgery (food tracking, eating more slowly, chewing, drinking lots of water).

Hi! You are ahead of me- I will have my initial consult 1/8/14. I have been doing a ton of research and I have decided to go for it if the doctor thinks I am a good candidate. I am 38 years old and I live in PA. I am hoping for a June or July surgery because that would work best for my work schedule and childcare needs.

Tired mama hi I have a choice of either the sleeve or gastric bypass, they discover I had hypro viro and now my surgeons are suggestion gastric bypass because of this . There are so many people on the waiting list for surgery that rumors are surgery won't be until May but since I didn't hear that from my surgeon my fingers are cross .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
