Debating sugery

Recommended Posts

When I was 29 I starting thinking about it and at the age of 31 I just had it done. I regret not having it done years ago. As far as recovery I am 10 wks out and I can do anything I could have before the surgery including heavy weight lifting.

--------

I'm 31 as well (turning 32 in april) and 9 weeks out tomorrow, today marks my 2 full month surgiversary (yay!) sleeved on 12.12

I have heard a lot about wls over the years but was too scared to go through it for a while even at my highest weight of 293 back in 2009. I used to think ppl who under went it were a bit cooocoo honestly. I lost 94 pounds on my own over 1.5 years and gained 62 back .. Was miserable and then considered wls. I lost about 25 pounds before surgery and since surgery another 35. I've had some challenges with dehydration and Constipation and heavy clotting and dizziness during my period since surgery but I'm better now. Had a minor set back last week after eating baked flounder at a Cuban restaurant - it wasn't even fried or breaded but I guess the spices didn't agree with me so my doc put me back on full liquids for a week or so. I'm sad that I've had to take some steps back but I know it's for the better. I was doing fine with tuna and salmon and tilapia homemade and Chinese Soups like egg drop before the flounder so I was shocked at my reaction. I will stay clear of Cuban and other takeout for a long while now. I guess I'm still healing. How is your food intake and tolerance at 10 weeks out?

I'm able to do a lot more now at 9 weeks out than during weeks 1-5, I had so little energy at that time. I'm actually back into my spin classes which I missed so much. I go about 3 times a week sometimes 4 if I'm feeling daring, lol. I sometimes do walking or other fitness DVDs at home for a change and lighter workout. Hope I stay active and healthy throughout the rest of my post sleeve life. I just can't wait to eat more normal foods and not shakes all the time .... I really miss sushi and Turkey chili and roasted lamb with collards or some turkey sausage or scallops, shrimp, calamari --- man oh man. I'm also a home baker so I would love to have a dabble of my sweet potato pie or carrot cake. One day I guess... My NUT restricts all the fried and sweets and carbs for at least 6 months

I am 8 weeks out and 31 years old. I couldn't be happier about the decision to have this surgery. I debated it for 2 years since I am cash pay but it's been worth every penny. HW 320, SW 313, CW 275. I have been over weight my whole life and am finally going to be able to live life to the fullest!!!

My doc released me to all foods at 6 weeks and I have had no problems. I work out 5 days a week, eat 900-1000 calories a day with 80+ Grams of Protein. Had one stall that lasted a week at seven weeks. Only thing I have trouble with is getting my Water. But I do the best I can.

I wish I had done this when I was 21 instead of 31.

I am a 34 yr. old male that is unfortunately (in my opinion) grossly over weight. I am 5'7" an 315lbs. I know what fitness is due to being prior service but because of injuries I cannot be as active as I want to be. I have been thinking about surgery for almost 2 years now. I know it is a life altering event in many ways, I just kinda feel that maybe I am to young for this. Also after the recovery period how active can someone be? Just trying to find answers. Anyone have any?

I am 29. Had the band at 25 which didn't pan out. I was sleeved three days ago. I also attend support group meetings at my hospital. I had no troubles with activity after my band. I am only three days out from bring sleeved but I know I will be able to do anything I want when I'm ready for it. My goal is to run a marathon. And I know I will do that someday.

There's a woman in her 60s in my support group meetings. She hikes once a week, weight lifts three times a week, and rows crew twice a week. She's far more active than any of my late 20s/early 30s friends. And she's double our age. This surgery won't limit you. It will help you be free to pursue whatever activity you wish to enjoy.

I am a 28year old male and I am four months post op, down over 95 pounds since surgery date. I had a stroke a few years ago which effected my left leg and have me severe mobility issues. Following the surgery I am now more active, able to be active and not out of breath, able to move more freely, I'm off all my blood pressure and cholesterol medications as well as one seizure med, and feel amazing. You have no clue what the difference is until you have the surgery and I never thought I could or would ever feel this good. I am not able to love a 'normal' life and feel amazing. I hope this helped :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
