I have lost 195 pounds - I was sleeved in September 2012. I have about 20 pounds to go :)

SW - 173kg (I think this is about 385 pounds)

Current Weight - 81kg (About 180 pounds so I think this is 195 pounds lost)

Goal Weight - 73kg (About 20 pounds to go)

Cheers, Liss

From reading November post, most of us are in a stall, including me. I feel guilty eating my small meals. It makes me feel like that's causing me not to lose weight, even though my daily calories are around 500. I get all my fluids, Proteins and most Vitamins in. Not getting all my waking in due to low back and knee injury.

I am still in my stall, two weeks and two days now and I am retaining fluids badly, my ankle has swelled up pretty big because I am making myself drink the 64 oz of Fluid and walking on it constantly. I just hope I am out of this stall soon, it is so disheartening. I am getting so bummed. I know this is not an overnight process but it really is mentally challenging to be eating so little and fluxing up and down 2-3 lbs. Please share your stall stories - how long did they last??

I cant believe I only have 35 pounds to go, and I cant also believe i let myself get to 286. Its crazy! I had a stall for 3 weeks when I was 1 week out. It was hard on me mentally. But i got through it. I might be in the middle of another stall, not quite sure yet. Dont stress or strain your body over it. Just relax and do what you can. I know its easier said than done:) Good luck!

Hi there :)

first, I apologise for jumping into this thread - I was posting in haste and didn't realise it was supposed to be for November sleevers :) I really only posted when I saw this because I had so much to lose and was always keen to see if anyone had lost as much as I had to lose.

So to answer your question, yep, I exercise quite regularly. I never used to of course and it wasn't until I was about 6 months out that I really got stuck in.

I started with weights and a yoga dvd. I did "Yogalosophy" and think it's amazing. I still love it :) After doing this for a few months, I started the Couch to 5K running app. I love to run now :) I still do weights regularly though as I feel I need it. I also started adult ballet too which I adore which gives me an ass kicking every time but totally worth it. I can't dance mind you but the fitness it requires of you really pushes you to do more! And it works your core strength which was crucial for me.

Since posting I went to the races and thought that a before and after photo might be good. Please be kind as I still have the last 20 to go :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
