33, sleeved, & wondering...

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks post op. Today is my first day back to work. I am happy yet unhappy :(

I'm happy my surgery was a success with little complications & I'm already back to work.

I'm unhappy because eating is now a chore & I am definitely not getting enough Protein or nutrients.

I eat 2 or 3 bites of tuna or eggs & I get a breathtaking pain in my stomach that forces me to stop. The pain lasts about 30 minutes. Also, when I get hungry I get the same pain.

The only things I can really tolerate are Water, Crystal Light, & Protein Shakes.< /p>

I am also having a lot of trouble sleeping.< /p>

But the thing that bothers me the most is I am totally exhausted! I walk from my car to my office & feel like I've run the Boston Marathon. Waking up, showering, & getting dressed leaves me wanting a nap. I had to use a scooter the other day in the store because I knew I couldn't walk the entire store without assistance.

I know I sound like a whiner & most have you have been where I am.

I'm just looking for reassurance that these things are normal & will improve!

I'd also like the hear anyone else's recovery stories & what helped them through this time.

Thank you!!

I will say it gets better. We've all been there. Eat slowly, drink your Water (crystal light, diet snaple) even if it's just small sips all day long get it down. Part of the pain at first is because you're swallowing air and your body is learning. Also, when you feel up to it exercise even if it's just going for a walk.

Take a look at your Protein Shake they are not all the same. I'm a coach with beachbody and our shakeology is more than just Protein it's about 70 different superfoods all jammed into your drink. Drinking shakeology is when I started to feel my best. Have energy, want Water, and it was because of the extra nutrients.

I wish you much success and if I can help in any way please contact me www.beachbody.com/kylieann712 . With the sleeve and shakeology I have lost 74 pounds in the last 10 months. I went from a size 24 to a size 8. I am so in love with my new body. I hope you'll get to that point with yours.

I know what you mean segatz80. I'm only one week out and getting dressed makes me very tired. Hopefully it gets better.

I just take it one day at a time and slow.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
