I've had 2 fills with 5/10ccs in my band. Since I've gotten the band I've had an issue with meats like chicken or turkey. I can eat fish and ground beef ( like meatballs or meatloaf). The meat is not dry and I even eat it with gravy sometimes.

Any advice for chicken? Am I eating it too fast perhaps? Not chewing well enough? I literally get that stuck feeling after only a few bites.

Help!

Yes, getting stuck with chicken or turkey is common. Any dry meat/protein. I try to take smaller bites, use gravy if possible. And chew more.

It does take a bit to adjust. After getting a stuck episode, you learn kinda quick. And I usually try. It to go back to the same mistake. I try to remember, smaller bites, and chew

Hope this helps.

I, too, have issues with chicken/turkey. Seems to be pretty common. I still eat a lot of chicken, but I have to slow myself down, take tiiiiny bites, and chew chew chew...which isn't such a bad thing, because I still tend to eat too fast!! I also use gravy, or a bit of mayo sometimes to help it go down better.

Dry meat is the only thing I consistently have problems with.

I find when eating stuff like chicken or even pork chops, marinading seems to really help a lot. This way the meat doesn't get dry and stuck. I'm constantly looking for low calories, low fat ways to add moisture and flavor to meat.

I like Mexican food so for grilled chicken I'll dip it in plain Greek yogurt that had Mexican spices. Helps out if chicken is dry and I get some Protein with the Greek yogurt.

I used to eat chicken all the time, but not so much since surgery. I haven't had any stuck issues, but if it's not cooked exactly right, it takes a lot of chew work to get it to the point of going down. When I do eat it, I try & stick to dark meat. Also, I make sure there is some type of sauce on it. chicken Cacciatore is a great lower fat dish, and the Tomato based sauce makes it easier to eat.

I second what everyone else said...smaller bites, more chewing, add a sauce to help with dryness! Also, try maybe giving a bit more time in between bites to allow it to pass through before you add more on top. I have this problem a lot (fast eater) and pay the price!

I have found eating fish is easy, it's moist and flakes apart nicely. Plus, it's tasty. :)

Don't do meat anymore I have become a vegan. I was sick of getting stuck. I have learned to love tofu as whatever you cook it with takes on the flavor. I also love black Beans. There are many Protein packed foods you can eat besides meat.< /p>

I had trouble with meat after my third and final fill....when I told my Dr. he said it was not that uncommon....

So I have not eaten meat in over 2-1/2 years....MUCH TO THE EXTREME DELIGHT of all my other Dr,'s such as my Cardiologist and Endocrinologist....

They have always been after me to either give it up, or only once a week....

Incidently, I have read many posts here where people will have "Turkey" Burgers, etc.....

They don't work for me because they go to great lengths to make the Turkey or Tofu to be just like meat....and it is the texture of meat that gave me problems, not the fact is was meat....

Just remember if the 1st piece doesn't go down well, aint no way the 2nd or 3rd will either. for me its really small pieces, chewed well. Give time to make sure it went down. I use ranch to dip mine and I try to stick to the dark meat. I never eat warmed over chicken from the microwave cuz it inevitably will be rubbery to a point. This is all just me.

chicken can be a problem. If I warm up chicken I will add broth to it to moisten it up some. Love the added flavor and continue with very slow first few bites.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
