My drains came out Friday before I left the hospital ( ouch ) lol. Still doing well. Drinking a lot if crystal light & Water. Only able to drink a lil of a Protein Shake right now. Trying to figure out other things to drink, Popsicles seem to make me gag not a fan of broth kinda stuck.

Can you have creamy Soups? Someone recommended Campbell's Soup To Go.

Well it's been three weeks since my surgery and I can now say that I am so glad I did this! I'm eating soft foods and I am down 24lbs! I actually hit one of my first goals yesterday I am now officially under 400! I weigh 398!! I haven't been under 400 in over 10 years! I'm so excited to watch as we all lose and evolve into our new selves! Congrats everyone!!

Today I made myself a soft scrambled egg with a tiny bit of shredded cheese 1 slice of Tomato 1 thin slice of avocado for Breakfast. It looked so yummy!! I had 2 tiny bites of avocado 1 tiny bite of tomato and 3 small bites of egg whamo it's stuck!! So much pain!! I had to make my self throw it up! Yuck!! Then I finally felt a bit better. Anybody else experience "stuck" yet? How do you deal with it? Did I try to much to fast? I am so turned off of food right now. I just want to curl up and sleep :(!

Aren't you only three weeks out? My diet is still puréed and 2oz per meal. I think you just rushed it alittle. I made a Protein Shake several days ago, but I made it really thick. I used PB2 and it was yummy. But....it was six oz. I didn't divide it up, I just drank it slow. I was sick for 5 hours. It was awful. I'll stick to 2 oz from now on. Also, what you ate, while it sound delish needs to be softer. If you puréed it first it would work. Maybe just try the egg alone. Good luck.

Hi Guys

My op was 29th Jan and I was released today.

The operation itself went well. He repaired four hernias and took out my nasty old gall bladder...so that's something I don't have to worry about.

I cannot remember anything about recovery but maybe that will come back with time. But the best thing was seeing my husband as soon as I woke in my room.

I don't think I used the pain pump much but yes I had pain but nowhere near as much as I thought I would.

I don't do well with pain meds so they took the pump away and gave me the fentanyl pain patch...that worked like a charm, but I slept and slept and found it hard to wake for more than an hour.

They kept me in longer than the 2 days because my chemistry weren't right and my potassium was very low. Several IV bags of that put me right. Oh geeze I was so glad that they put in a PIC because I have so many blown veins....lol....the PIC made life a lot easier.

Taking out the staples hurt no more than plucking hair...the drain felt weird but did not hurt at all.

Last two days I have had horrible gas and even though gas is usually less with open surgery I think my gas was just due to a build up of no food and lots of medication because I have had horrendous diarrhea....hopefully that will be that.

I got the pain patch removed early too, but they advised one for the journey home today, so feel drug weary...other than that I'm doing ok.

Just want to say the hospital, the surgeon and staff were fantastic....

Xxxx

Thank you 2biglamb, it's good to be home.

2lbs is good. It's going to be up and down. For a while all that post op medication, swelling and healing will figure in.

What date did you have yours?

Jan 20th!

Hi lady! I did have a stuck issue with a deviled egg. My plan was never to puree but instead chew to a puree'd consistency...well, eggs are a mental roadblock for me to begin with as I have always needed toast as it's companion. So mentally, I wanted to rush the egg along. The last bite was swallowed and immediately "stuck"...so I sat and waited for it to pass then realized maybe it wouldn't and stood over the toilet for a few minutes both dreading and hoping it would come up. The feeling passed in less than ten minutes, but it was miserable. For me, it's hard to dress up an egg. I have done scrambled eggs twice without physical problems.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
