How Many Incisions Did You Have?

Recommended Posts

I was so grateful to not have had open surgery, I almost forgot to count!

I have six incisions. The one on my far right has a HUGE bruise to go along with it. The one on the far left is the most painful.

i had 5 incisions; bellybutton (thanks goodness) a tiny one right between my breasts where my bra sits, one on the left and one on the right of my belly button. i am almost a month out and they are healing wonderfully! i will start rubbing bio oil on them as soon they completely heal shut to minimize the scarring (even though they are all very small). i will take a few scars to be svelte and sexy any day!!! :)

The one on your far left is where they removed your stomach...It will hurt the longest out of all of them...

I have 12 incisions...I look like someone shot me with a Gatling gun....perfect circle!

Try Caster oil...K That is the only product that actually seeps into the scare and helps heal from inside and at the same time fade the scars..Bio oil....I have no faith in it anymore...Used it on a skin cancer scar and made no difference at all..However I use Caster oil on my new family of scars and they are lighter and softer then they were before...A huge difference..... :)

I had five.

Four on my stomach, the main was not at/in my belly button, though.

One at where my bra sits, so sometimes it gets really irritated.

I didn't have a drain tube.

Six here ! Surgeon told me it would've been 5, but I had my gallbladder out, too, for which he likes to use a drain. So-- I have what he calls an "extra" incision on my far right to accommodate that. My sites don't hurt any more, but are a bit itchy with tiny ridges.

I had five, the largest on my lower left abdomen where they took my stomach out. None of the others hurt at all. They are quite small and I don't expect to have much scarring. It's not that big a price to pay, in my mind.

I also had 5. The 1 on the left is where my lapband port was, where they took my lapband out and my stomach. It was bruised and dimpled for weeks. It still has a dimple on it, probly there forever from my lapband port. Looks like an alien crawling out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
