Any Florida Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I have been approved by my insurance and I am waiting for my surgery date. Maybe the end of February, hoping sooner though. I can't wait to start this new chapter in my life. I am going to Dr. Jawad in Orlando.

Hello Florida friends. Hope everyone is doing great! All I can think about is getting on the beach when it warms up, and walk with the sand between my toes without gasping for breath! I am not panting because of my asthma anymore just coming home from the grocery store! Have a wonderful day today!

Hi Linda from Florida. My name is Lynda also. I have 4 grandchildren and another granddaughter on the way in March. How did your sleeve surgery go? Are you adjusting well?

Hello Lynda, I am doing fantastic! I had surgery on a Monday at 3 pm, walked that evening a little, had a leak test the next morning, and went home about 3 pm. I had one dose of pain meds at home, rested, and went to the grocery store on Thursday. The following week I was shopping, something I hate to do, and I just had so much energy it was fun.

Could not be happier!!! I am 67, older than you. I feel like a new person, honestly. I am off Metformin for diabetes, and off 1 BP medicine. Definitely my asthma is better, I am not gasping for breathe anymore when I come home from the store. My husband and I are so thankful we had this surgery!!!!

2 months out, and taking it easy with food. We avoid carbs and sugar, and keep our meals to the basics. You will be so happy to be sleeved, I promise!!!! Keep me posted Lynda.

Wow Linda sounds like you did great! I have it in my head to follow instructions and be a good patient. I think it will go much better that way. My daughter was sleeved about 18 months ago. She had a few setbacks but she is doing well today. She is 29 weeks pregnant. And the baby is growing wonderfully. I will keep you posted after surgery!

I am in Orlando and was sleeved by dr jawad in July of 2012. He is awesome! And I adore his staff as well. They run a great program. Good luck!!

I'm thinking of going with Dr. Jawad... Can you give a little heads up on how his process works (preop diet, insurance issues, wait periods, etc)? Any/all info will help! Thanks in advance

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
