Thanks again guys for all of the well wishes! Last night I took a percocet before bed to help me relax and get some sleep (you really don't get any sleep in the hospital. someone is there checking on you about every hour or two) I was a little confused bc I got percocet pills--not liquid. I just crushed them and put them in applesauce--yuck! It was really gross crunching the pills in my teeth. I guess it helped, bc I slept well. Rolling from side to side was a little uncomfortable, but nothing that needed meds for. Today I had my first shower..ahhh, it felt really good. I am starting to burp more...usually after I drink anything. Every now and again I feel hungry, but not to the point were I would eat anything I shouldn't. I am cutting my volume down to a half a cup. I didn't pay attention at the hospital, but I was eating a full cup at a time...I started my account on fitday.com like Michelle wanted us to do. I guess it is going well. I was a little surprised that the full liquid recipes she gave us didn't have a carbohydrate count...I might call her and ask her myself, just to have a complete profile.

I was a little sad that my mom had to leave today, but Russ will be home later and has the weekend off. Until then I am trying to take it easy with the kids. This is harder than you can imagine. We are a very snuggley family, and they are really wanting Mommy to hold them and play with them. I am betting by Monday I will be 100%. I would say I am about 90% now...not so bad for two day post-op!

Good luck to all of the St Patty's Day gang. My thought will be with you. And relax...it is sooo much easier than you are thinking. The three of you will be fine!

love

n.

PS just a note...the heprin shot was the most pain. You get that in preop and it burns...so after the shot, think about it only being better form there on out!

PSS the are no joke with rings! I tried to get mine off, but there was no way...they were ready to cut them off--yikes!!! I begged the anisthesia doc to atleast start with them on, but if he needed to cut them from swelling--I would understand! The first thing I did was look under the tape...and Yah, my rings were still on. whew! Sooo, work at taking them off in the am, when you have the least amount of sweeling!

Evening everyone!

Niki~ I'm so happy to hear you're doing so well. I've had you in my prayers. Its good to know you bounce back that quick. My mom is planning to be with me too when my DH can't.... Isn't it a blessing to have a good momma? I thank God every day for mine.

Sue, Kathy and Greg~ you guys have been in my prayers the last couple days. I can only imagine the jitters you are having right now.

I went to the siminar at Mt. Carmel on Wed. Dr. Choban was the surgeon speaking that night.... she was very nice. I spoke with David after the meeting and told him my situation. He said I should write a little note at the bottom of each page of the application explaining whats happened with Barix. I did that and went one further...... I wrote a letter and attached it as well. David said he has heard my problem so many time with Barix. He said so many people agree to do the "payment plan" because they are so tired of the process and they are desperate to have the surgery by that point. I can understand....

Well, anywho, back to the waiting game.

Hi Debbie.... Haven't heard alot from you lately. Hows it going?

Lady..... Oh My Golly!!!!! I can not believe they allowed her to keep that dog. I thought they automatically took an animal if it bit someone. Sadly you hear things like this all the time. People not taking care of their children or their pets is such a problem. I agree with Sarah..... take the dog AND the kids away. That poor little boy. I will keep him in my prayers.

You never said how the boys BB team did. DH and I are huge high school football fans.... LICKING VALLEY PANTHERS!!!

Down to 24 hours to go now until I get ready and leave the house to go to the hospital. Wow! I'll be praying for all us bandsters at church today. I've only told my closest friends at my church for now but let me tell you, those ladies in my Weds Bible Study are a great group and I know they will be praying for us!

Redbone Lisa -- we haven't forgotten you're just a couple weeks behind the folks being banded this week. Hang in there! March 31 will be here before you know it!

One last thing, I tried to call and get scheduled into the April 2 post op nutrition class and they said they are officially not scheduling anything now for that day. They told me to check at the hospital before I leave or call back after I'm home. Maybe Michelle couldn't fit in doing the last nutrition classes on her last day.

I am thinking of all of you getting banded tomorrow! You're all in my prayers and I'm sure everything will go swimmingly! I even bet you'll be more motivated to walk the halls knowing you have each other there to walk with!

K, I wanted to come visit you tomorrow but unfortunately my Aunt was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last week and I am going to be picking up extra shifts at work to cover for her so I won't be able to make it. I'll be with you in spirit though!

Okay friends, I'm up and ready to get the day started. I guess I should say I was up before the alarm and also woke up several times during the night, I guess a few pre-surgery jitters. I feel confident this is the right decision so I'll post tomorrow when I am home from the hospital since our docs and hospital require an overnight stay.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
