My Doctor has not mentioned a 7 day or 10 day pre op liquid Diet to me yet. Their was not one when I had a Gastric Band put in, So i'm wondering why you would have to do this for the Sleeve?? I'm sure if you are on this diet it was explained why it is done. Can someone

They put you on a liquid diet to help shrink your liver. This helps during surgery to better manipulate the liver out of the way when they do your sleeve.

My doctor says I will not have to do the liquid diet. I'm told it all depends on the amount of weight you need to lose before the surgery. There are quite a few people on this site that didn't need to be on a liquid diet. If your doctor hasn't mentioned it you probably won't need to be on one. I would double check just to be sure. Nothing worse that a surprise liquid diet a week before surgery .
