  1. I was sleeved on 10-23 and I just can't seem to get my energy back. I haven't had any problems and I am otherwise doing well but I feel tired all the time. My protein levels have been a bit low lately since going back to work, I find it hard to eat in the allotted break time. Today I decided to add a protein drink back into my day even though I am a week away from eating regular food. Has anyone else experienced extreme fatigue?
  2. I had my sleeve on Wednesday and I was just wondering how others get there fluid/protein requirements in? I feel like I am constantly shoving something down my throat and I am always feeling full. I am supposed to get 60-80 grams of protein in a day and even drinking the supplements it is hard. I want more water than anything else I am thirsty!!!! Am I expecting to much to soon?

    Incision Infection

That does not look normal. I was sleeved on 10/23 and mine were never open and was healed in about a week. You should not have an open hole like that, did he put any packing in the wound? I would be very wary about that wound. Keep an eye on it and call your Dr. immediately if it drains, becomes tender or you run a fever.
  4. They put you on a liquid diet to help shrink your liver. This helps during surgery to better manipulate the liver out of the way when they do your sleeve.
  5. I was told you could count half of your water intake as protein drinks. So that should make it easier for you.

    Back Pain

I am only 3 weeks out from surgery but have been fighting chronic back issues since January. I went to see my Dr. today and was told I am running out of options. I have done physical therapy and gone to a pain clinic for months. I have had 3 different injections and I still have pain everyday. I am so tired of popping pills and having pain but I don't want to have back surgery. I am hoping losing weight and exercising will help. Unfortunately my back issues will never be cured without surgery, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and spondylthesis.

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

I also was sleeved on 10/23/13. I am healing up well and going back to work this week. I am so grateful to be on the pureed phase! I started out at 311 and now I am 282. I only weigh myself on Wednesday mornings. I think to much scale hopping can be detrimental to your mind set. I try to follow the 10 Commandments of Bariatric Surgery and remember I am doing this to be healthier not a super model,,,lol.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS- How Ya Doin'?

I was sleeved on October 23 and I am doing great. I just entered the puree phase and I am so enjoying real food! Who would have thought cottage cheese could taste so good. I am ready to go back to work and continue my healthy eating. I am nervous and excited at the same time to stick to my new ways of eating and exercising. I am down 30lbs which includes the 2 week diet before surgery. Good luck to all October sleevers!
  10. I was sleeved on October 23 and about 4 days ago I started having a burning pain every time I move. The pain is only from the incision that the stomach comes out of. I have a hard time getting up or down and there is a hard lump around the incision site. I called the Dr. office today and didn't seem to concerned and said they would look it over on Thursday at my appointment. Has anyone had pain around this site?
  11. Today I made turkey chili. I just fried the 93% turkey added a can of chili beans and a can of diced tomatoes. Then I took a potato masher and smashed it all up till it was real fine. It was delicious, I added a few spices and simmered it for a few hours. This is the first thing I have made and it is very high protein.
  12. Get out of there! Go for a walk, a drive anything to take yourself out of the situation. You are only 6 days away from a healthy new lifestyle don't let others bring you down. This is your time to shine!
  13. It is hard to do the 2 week diet. I had to do 6 shakes a day for 2 weeks, no food! It doesn't get any better after the surgery I had 2 days of clear liquids and I am now just coming to the end of 2 weeks of regular liquids. Tomorrow I finally see the surgeon and I should start 2 weeks of pureed food! Good luck it's hard to just drink your meals.

    Newby :)

Oh I can totally relate to the back issues you have and the chronic pain. My main objective to getting this surgery was just to be healthier and help my back. I also have degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and spondylthesis. The pain can be unbearable and causes you to miss out on so much of life. I also go to a pain clinic and I just don't want to live this way forever. I am hoping the more weight I lose the better I will feel. Unfortunately I realize there is no cure for the things I have wrong with my back but I am hoping for a miracle. Keep plugging along. I wish you much luck in your journey!

    Appointments

My story is much like Bob 624, it took 10 months of hell to get approved for VSG. They really make you work for it and prove you are ready for the changes in your life. Don't get discouraged it will be so worth it in the end.
  17. Did you have surgery thru any kind of center or just with a surgeons office? I went to a Bariatric Center and for the rest of my life I am able to call upon them for help in any area. They have monthly weigh ins, support meetings, dietician etc. I am glad I went this route I feel I have a lot of support to back me up.

    Incision Pain

No I don't think it's infected. No redness, or discharge coming from site definetly something under the skin. A lot of people have said it sounds normal and part of the healing process. I just think it is weird I didn't have it and then 4 days ago it shows up.

    Going back to work

I was told from the start 2-3 weeks off work and I am 10 days out and grateful I have time to relax and heal. I guess my surgeon has a different approach I have seen a lot of people on here say they saw there Dr. just a few days out. I was sleeved on Oct 23 and my first Dr. visit will be Nov7th. I am lucky to have short term disability at work so I am taking the 3 weeks and I am enjoying it!

    Going back to work

My Dr. said 2-3 weeks. I don't even go back to see him till 2 weeks and 1 day out. I can't imagine people going back in less than 1 week. More power to ya I am grateful I have the time to heal and rest b4 going back.
