Do I Need A Bowel Prep For My Vsg This Thusday?

There is absolutely nothing in my several page instruction booklet regarding preop bowel prep. It only says no fluids after midnight Wednesday.

Hi Chris, my doctor had me drink a magnesium citrate bottle the day before while only on clear liquids. No eating or drinking after midnight.

Your nutritionist should have covered this in your class. The doctors prefer a very clean tummy while doing the WLS. I would suggest to call your doctors office. All doctors are different.

I had to 2 week liquid diet, however in reading others experiences, some don't.

Hope this helps : )

My manual says no need to empty the bowel before surgery. I can have two protein shakes the day before, but nothing after midnight.

My doctor allows eating small Protein meal up until midnight night before surgery. No bowel prep.

My surgeon also didn't do a bowel prep, just stop eating the evening before. He says bowel prep makes sense when you are going to be surgically working with someone's intestines (bypass, duodenal switch) but not so much when you won't be touching their intestines (sleeve, lap band).
