Well ya know Yoda, I hadn't thought of that til ya brought it up!!! Hmmmm

Yes, Bandiva, I am happy she's back. I was a little skeptical at first, but she seems to be making a good effort. So far so good. And yes, I sleep much better with all my chicks in the nest.

Thanks for understanding. I think I must have named the thread the wrong thing, or said something weird about this thread. I only meant it to help eliminate all the individual threads we all have, it would be much quicker to read through. I fully expect others to read and post here, and want them too. That's all!!:phanvan

Thanks Wheezy. We actually got the 20"-ers after seeing how big they were alone, and how HUGE the 24" would have been. These are more than ig enough, and I save $500 by getting the little bit smaller one.

I loove Apple computers. I think they're just so easy to use. (plus very little worry of viruses, and I've never had one crash on me) After spending almost $3000 on a super PC a little more than a year ago, and it crapping out and being totally unfixable by the technicians who could NOT figure out what was wrong with it... I'm done with PC's. I had my 2nd last Mac for 3 years and never had one problem ... until I sold it and got the PC.

I also just think they're the nicest lookin' little things! I've got one cord coming out of it... the power cord! Wireless mouse and key board.... ah...heaven.

Bandiva: I'm happy you feel that way! ;)

CLOE: Glad your daughters home too! Did you say, did she broke up with the boyfriend, or not?

I'm thinking I might need another fill. I dropped back to my pre-defill weight VERY fast after my re-fill, and haven't budged since. I'm at 1.2cc right now, and going to get a 0.3cc fill to bring me back up to where I was before seems so crazy. 8 hours driving, and $100 for 0.3cc ?!

But then again, I'd be too scared to go higher than that, cause I know how I was at 1.5cc and that was 'comfortable'. I'm sure I still had some ride-out time left with my good old 1.5cc's before I would have needed another fill... so I really am stuck going through all that for 1.5cc. UGG! It's just picking a time that works well with everything else, and corresponds to paydays!

April 21st is looking like the closest next possible weekend that I could do it. Sucks to have to wait like 4 weeks to do it.... grrrr. It'll give me a bit of time to see how things go with this one though. But I'm thinking I'm gonna need to be back to my old fill level to continue with the results I was getting prior to the defill.

Bah! Sorry for rambling.

Wow Mandi you go through computer systems fast. Glad you are enjoying your income tax money.

4 weeks isn't all that long to wait for a fill. You may have just plateaued. Give yourself a break, you just went through a bad experience. Take care.

I second that sentiment!

Wow Mandi,

I think you've just hit a plateau. I agree with the girls that you just hit a rough patch. Good luck.

GAWD...I wish!!!!!

--------------------------------------

I'm going to the racetrack tommorrow night with 2 other couples. We are going for dinner there too. They have a fantastic buffet there, it's very nice, but here's the delimma(?).............It is really expensive!!!! And it's not so much the money, but the principal of it. I want to tell or ask the waitress or manager that I've had surgery and I can only eat a cup of food. I'm not embarrassed to ask, and the other couples know about my surgery, but do you guys think it's wrong or rude to ask for a discount or something????? I was thinking about asking for a lunch price or a kid's price, am I being petty??? I can't eat $5.00 worth of food let alone $25.00. I need some opinions.

----------------------------------------

Oh, and yes I agree with the others Mandi. Wait a week, then see how you feel. Then again, if it was me, I'd be calling for a fill, but that's not neccesarily the right thing, I'm just very impatient. But, if you can wait a week, I would.

:)

Maybe your could talk to the waiter/hostess/whoever and tell them that you are not feeling well, or are on a restricted diet and you really only would like the Soup. Do they also have a menu? If so, problem solved.

Try ordering an appetizer only with one small glass of wine. As the rest of the group will be ordering meals, you shouldn't be looked upon critically by the staff.

Cloe I feel for you. I would ask your server if the restaurant offers lunch size meals and portions. My friend (a server) says that many places these days will accomodate that request even if the menu doesn't say so.

Restaurant eating with the band is so weird. Today was my first time eating out since the band and after the bad "stuck" incident I have been really paranoid of that happening again especially in front of people. Anyway I ate out a lunch today with the people from my office and everyone ordered a special drink and appetizers. I ordered a glass of Water and didn't touch it, and then I ordered the appetizer for a meal and still took half home. No one commented thank goodness but I was worried that someone would say something and draw everyones attention and questions.

Sorry Cloe I meant to say lunch priced plates. I think my brain is still thinking about the restaurant I ate at today. Blah... I meant to say ask if they offer the lunch priced buffet. You will of course have to mention that you have undergone surgery and can not eat much. My friend says when they have their buffet dinners people bring in dr's notes even to get discounts. :)

Oh also some buffets offer a sharing price. so in other words your husband pays full price and you pay a certain amount to share off of his plate. Not sure if the place you are going to offers that but you may have to ask.

I wonder if I could get a letter from Dr. Cobourn, then get it laminated and carry it with me everywhere!?

So... right after work, I was trapped in the coat with the other "big loser" (weight) at work. He said "So Mandi, how much weight have you lost?" I said "No comment." He asks if it's 35lbs. I said "Since I got here? More than that (it's' like 50-60lbs!) and since I've been trying, WAY more." And he's like, "Oh yeah, that's cool... I've lost 93 so far." I said congrats and all that crap. But man does that bug me. Unlike him, I don't like to advertise at work! How could I possibly tell people (about the band) when I've got this dingus doing it purely with diet and exercise? Apparently earlier in the day he was trying to get Dan to feel his muscles!! :)

Either way, I'll definitely be waiting more than a week to see how this plateau works out. Yesterday I weighed myself again... (yeah I know, the one who says DONT weigh yourself everyday HAS been) and I WAS down 0.6. I never never weigh on weekends, so we'll see where monday takes me.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
