October Sleevers- Anyone Hit The 3 Week Stall?

Recommended Posts

Was sleeved 10/23 and lost 29 lbs during the first 2 weeks. Started pureed right after my 2 week mark. I Weighed myself this morning and was only down 2 lbs this week. What the heck? Has to be some sort of stall because I weigh 379 and would think I would lose more than that!

I'm 2.5 weeks out, oct 30. Lost 24 so far. My provider told me to stay off scale everyday. Fluid still fluctuates so it might "stall", no worries, there is no way you are eating enough calories not to lose weight.

10/14 for me. I hit a 7-10 day stall about 10 days after surgery.

That's exactly where I am! Also, my stomach gurgles a lot and makes me think I am hungry! I really think I am getting hungry. Isn't the sleeve supposed to remove the hunger hormone?

Are you on a PPI? I take Prilosec. The days I've forgotten it are the days that I've felt hungry all day. At times I feel hungry when I'm behind on my Water consumption too. Then there's always when cues arise: sitting at home kinda bored, looking forward to a certain dish at a restaurant, etc. I just try to figure out what is causing it. It's tough and something I'm still learning to do. I'm hoping over time our minds will change a bit, but I bet we will deal with it at some level forever.

Thanks for that info. No, I'm not on anything like Prilosec, but my heartburn has been horrible, so I was planning to inform my surgeon when I go this Wednesday. I'm having trouble getting in all if my water, too. Totally relate to the boredom factor, as well. Thanks!!!

That's great to know. I have been afraid that the "new" foods I'm re-introducing are causing the stall. Mine has been so similar-- up and down a pound or so. Best wishes!

I wouldn't wait until Wednesday, I'd call your doctor now. You paid them a lot for surgery and it's easy for them to answer this question over the phone. Heartburn is a very normal problem to have so they will have an answer.

I have hit the stall.

SW 258

CW 238

Surgery date 10.21. On Monday, November 11 ( which was the beginning of my 3rd week), I weighed 240. My scale moved 2 pds down this morning. I hope it is truly over.

Ike's, I hit the dreaded stall! Not going to worry. Eating 300-400 cals a day will not slow my weight loss. Even after I suggested staying off the scale I cannot help but look. Promise myself not to get on again until the weekend.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
