Nicest Thing Said To You?

Recommended Posts

I am still at the stage where I can't quite believe it when something nice is said to me - and genuinely meant.

But for the second time in 10 days, someone referred to me as a pixie. First was an event organiser planning a party for children to meet Santa - he said I would be perfect to be a pixie if I wanted to help... Then today, I saw someone I haven't seen for 3 months and she commented on how pixie-like I was - apparently dinky, little pointy chin, large eyes and cheek bones, all add up to being a pixie it seems.

My 78lb heavier self never dreamed in Feb this year that this word would ever be applied to me. But I'll take it, lol!

So what's the nicest, perhaps most surprising thing that's been said to you since you started losing weight?

An older gentleman who has known me for a few years said I now look like Hedy Lamarr. If only! Soon, soon.

My husband had not seen me since 3 days after my surgery ( 11 weeks later) He just keeps telling me over and over how amazing I look, how he cant believe how well I'm doing.

It makes me feel amazing.

I have not seen many people I know yet. But I'll tell ya if I hear a good one. :)

I love the pixie comments! I can see that! :)

My husband said that he found himself taking a double take at my profile. I think that was a Mars vs Venus complement lol

I like to say the bit@h of it is " nobody notices the first 50 pounds you lose"

When I had lost 55 pounds a friend said to me......

No body notices because you look normal, like you used to.

Normal, like you should look.

I guess that is the best thing someone can say.

We all just want to be healthy and normal looking.

Normal is good - my dietician said to me at my 6 month check that I now looked normal to the rest of the world. Feels like a good place to be, normal ????

My daughter from time to time will say, "Mom! You look skinny!!!" That never gets old! And today at work someone told me I was "melting away" ....I think it was a compliment....lol.

Beachbaby29, you are on your way there :-)

It is absolutely amazing to fit in, which is my definition of what normal is. People don't see a fat person, they just see an average sized person and they make no assumptions about me. I can't explain how good this is, makes every challenge along the way since my sleeve worth it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
