Thanks for all the input, I Had the Sleeve Jan of this year, and Gallbladder remove Feb of this year. I have not asked, Put I hope they fan do it Laperscopy, and NOT opened. How do they know how much "scar" tissue you have?

In my case, with two different surgeries years apart and two different surgeons, they didn't know until they got in there. Both surgeons knew my family and personal history and both said the exact same thing, we'll do it laparascopically if possible, open if necessary. The gall bladder wound up being open, the RnY (10+ years and a LOT of technological improvements later) was done laparascopically. It's amazing what they can do and either way you're gonna love the new you!!

Nothing to sugarcoat, goldygirl, it was a breeze! Five small cuts, one in my bellybutton. No catheter, no drain. One nite in the hospital. No nausea, minimal pain. The two worst things for me were not being able to sleep in the hospital and not being able to drink anything from the day of surgery until the surgeon came to see me the next day. Major dry mouth! Good luck to you, and please let us know how you are doing. Hugs:-)

I had previously had gallbladder removal, and hysterectomy and there was no problem doing my RnY laprascopically. The only issue I had with recovery was some bad pain on the left side. This was from the incision where they went through muscle and did most of the hard work through. It hurt pretty good for about 10 day or so and then all of a sudden, one day it stopped and I felt like a new woman! Would do it again tomorrow! Good luck.

Your start weight is same as mine and you are at weight lower than I am shooting for (185) so I have been following you.

So I will have Dr remove my Gallbladder and Appendices while they are in there!

Do you have a surgery date yet? You may have read in some of my other posts that I'm not a big fan of goal weights. My surgeon never offered one and I decided even before my surgery that my body would know when it was where it wanted to be. So I just kept following the protocol until my weight stabilized. I believe there are several advantages to this approach.

When you have a goal weight in mind, it increases your impatience and frustration with the time it takes to reach your goal. If you don't have a goal weight, you're not on any timeline - you won't know you're there until you're there. Much more conducive to focusing on the all-important lifestyle changes as opposed to some "magic" number.

WLS patients often experience a weight regain following their weight loss - commonly referred to as "bounce back". It can be as little as 10-15 pounds or, in some cases, considerably more. There can be a lot of reasons for it but, at least in my experience, if your body is at the weight it wants to be at, there's little or no bounce back. I stabilized at 155 and my weight this morning (13 months later) was 152.8. And that's after increasing my daily calorie goal following the stabilization of my weight. Initially by 300 calories. And most recently I increased it again by an additional 100 calories over what I was targeting during weight loss.

Finally, not having a specific goal weight takes at least some of the emphasis off of the number on the scales. That's a big deal. And one of the reasons I always recommend folks who are in the rapid weight loss part of the journey weigh themselves no more often than once a week. When you hit a stall, once every two weeks is even better. No matter what we do, our weight loss is going to fluctuate in response to too many variables to even identify, much less address. Downplaying the number on the scale and focusing your energy instead on staying positive, staying focused on following the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can, staying patient and maintaining a food log is a much more rewarding and much less stressful plan.

You're gonna love the new you!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
