Low BMI 35 From Band to Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 2009 went from 224lbs down to 167lbs. I started having complications with the band in Jan,2012 my body was rejecting the fills, in and out of the hospital, ect.... I am now back up to 200lbs and was approved for revision from Band to Sleeve. My Surgery date is 11/27/13. I'm so happy but nervous! I just need some encouragement from people that went through the same situation as me and had success with it? The past couple years with the band has been a nightmare for me!!!

YAY for you!! I had my revision 5/20/13. THE best decision I could have made after 6 yrs w/the band (4 of those yrs. dealing with complications). I am now a weight & size I've not seen in 20+ yrs. I tell people this is what I had hoped the band would do for me. I'm the "turtle"...slow ands ready will win the race.

So, good luck and best wishes!

Hello, I had my lap band removed on 10/25/13 and the sleeve performed in the same procedure. I feel so much better. I don't have the food getting stuck feeling I had with the band. Having had wls before makes you aware of what full feels like. You are familiar with chewing food, taking small sips and not drinking before and after meals. I am now 60 pounds from my goal. I have not had one instance of heart burn since my sleeve surgery. My last 3 years plus were nothing but this even on prescription meds. My doctor told me it should go away when the band was removed, and he was correct.

I got down to 170 with my band and was back up to 210 212 by surgery time. My band was unfilled in August 2013 and only gained 5 to 6 pounds during that time.

Congrats. I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck to you.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
