December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I am 19 days out and was doing really great until last weekend. I was picking up all the dog toys off my living room floor and began to get sore in my lower left abdomen area just below the tethering stitch. Ever since then I have had significant pain if I move the wrong way, sitting especially. I can no longer bend over, sleep on my sides, or do ANYTHING quickly. I am frustrated because I was feeling so good and I feel like I set myself back. I called the doc and they said I did too much and this is a normal side effect that can happen. But now it's been a week and it's not getting any better! I have a call into today after a horrible nights sleep with pain that brought tears to my eyes. I have no fever, am getting fluids and Protein in for the most part, and over all am feeling good. But this really hurts and really frustrates me. I'm hoping other might know what I'm talking about and be able to give me advice about how long it lasts or at least general support.

I'm sorry you're having a setback! I was overly cautious and still won't bend over or lift anything! (lucky I have an amazing husband). Do you have any pain meds or taking any Tylenol? I had horrible pain there that only stopped yesterday, and my surgery was the 13th. I'm sorry I don't have any words of wisdom for you but I hope you recover quickly and hopefully have something for pain.

I have some pain meds and they dull the pain but don't even come close to resolving it. I am 31And even at 320 pounds was relatively active. I live alone in a three story town home and I've had to resort to calling my mom to come over and do things for me. She is very willing and loves to help but I feel like a invalid and am so frustrated. I can't do laundry, load the dishwasher, pick up things from the floor, and it takes me almost 5 minutes to put in socks because of the bending. I'm just sad and frustrated.
Hey I was wondering how you were doing. I felt the same was a couple days before my stitch popped. Hopefully your stitch is preparing to pop and that's why you are feeling so bad. I felt immediate relief when that thing broke loose. How are you doing on pounds lost??

Hey all!! Sleeved 12/16 Sw;252, morning of surgery 236, CW 210. Having a relatively easy go of it. Protein Shakes are no longer my friend and I have lots of fatigue, but no pain, no problems getting my fluids in either.

Atlanta yes I understand I have to continue the s.s. I did Not have any Constipation while on pain meds, dilaudid in hospital then roxicet for a week. i just had diarrhea for a few days and extreme fatigue for a while

I Am on a ppi 2x a day and a pink carafate solution 3x a day that coats my stomach for ease with sipping due to major crying Induced hernia pain, pulsing and pressure -- it helps a little but my PA says the constipation is not from those rx's it's from Insufficient fluids

Thanks for your support, my family thinks I need to toughen up.

You're welcome. My husband is very regular and we don't usually discuss those kinds of things but the day after I was finally able to go, he had it too! He was miserable even after it passed! I guess your fam needs a little taste of what you're going through! Hang in there!

Me too! I consider it a blessing. Starting Vitamin B this week. Hope that helps with the energy. Congrats on your loss.

Hi Deez! Glad to sew you are progressing! When I was first swallowing things, it didn't hurt but I could definitely feel it all the way down the middle and feel the burps crawl all the way back up! It's also been so long since you've had anything to drink at all, might take just a little notre time to be regular again. Have they tried anything warm yet to see if that is any easier?

Continued positive thoughts your way!

Deez...good to hear from you. For several days post op I kept complaining because of the pain in my chest when I would swallow water...it just kept feeling like it was getting stuck on the way down. They told me that it was because I was so swollen from the surgery and they promised it would get better....they were right, but it did take just a few days.

It'll get better...and I am still praying for you!

Hello and Ty 4 keepn me in ur prayers and all the positive vibes from u all! Ty for ur response as well, they did tell me that I was very swollen and tight so that makes sense. I'm just scared that it cud a stenosis headed my way bc like u described, it goes down, stops, then pushes its way threw and it Hurst like sharp, yikes. I sip, somtms let it slide Down itself but it still happens. This is one reason y I'm blessed to have this site of friends bc it makes me feel wayyyy better to know that others overcame it. You ALL ROCK. God bless and happy weight loss n recoverys. Gn all. Ur all in my prayers:)

That chest pain/stuck feeling is normal...I had it in the hospital and thru week 1....every now and then if I drink too fast or the liquid is too cold I still feel that way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
