What's for lunch?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to get some ideas. It's hard to cook for just 1.

Today's lunch: frozen chicken breast (2 oz) baked in a bit of chicken broth w/ green Beans.

What are y'all eating today??

Jeez guys, I haven't even had Breakfast yet, stop rushing me! ;-)

lunch is likely to be either some tuna fish with a bit of Greek yogurt and shredded cheese, melted in the microwave, or a Pure Protein bar, since I'll be out running around all day today.

Yes, the German Red Cabbage is for when you are post-op a bit. This has:

Ground turkey

Red cabbage

Kale

Onions

Apples

Balsamic vinegar

Cinnamon

Cloves

Sugar

Salt

Pepper

Talk about good and good for you. This is one of my favorite meals, but I wasn't able to eat it until about 7 months post-op. I will also use chicken sometimes. I make huge batches in the fall (right now) and can it in quart jars. I pull it out throughout the year, add the cooked ground turkey and jar it in the freezer. I then grab one as I leave for work.

It will take me about 30 minutes to eat this, ~ 7oz by volume.

There are few things in life finer.

Lazy and quick lunch: 2 slices low fat ham around a low fat cheese stick and about 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes and red pepper spears. No whole grain with lunch because about an hour before I had an ounce of pop chips.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
