Am 3 days post op and woke up sweaty and shaky and weak. What can I do to feel better? Please help!

That sounds like hypogycemia - low blood sugar- from not eating enough. Try some fruit juice or some yogurt and call your NUT to tell you what you should be eating.

I felt that way in the early days when I was dehydrated or hadn't had enough to eat. can you get something in your system fast?

Would Powerade help?

I have yet to have surgery, but I would definitely talk to your doctor. As a type I diabetic, what you are describing sounds a lot like low blood sugar to me. If you're not diabetic, it won't go low enough to be dangerous, but hypoglycemia can feel miserable and won't get better until you get some carbs into your body. If you can tolerate sipping juice, I would recommend it. And definitely call your doctor.

As Vicky said.. Get some orange juice in you and quick. Give it 15 minutes and if you still feel horrid, get on the phone to someone. x

I am still just sipping. I did get a regular Powerade and mixed with Water. I really hope it helps.

The Powerade might help but something with some Protein (like yogurt) might be even better.

you might try Pro-NRG can be found at Walgreens 4 oz Protein Water 15g protein , you definitely need fluids to prevent dehydration if you can alternate water with your poweraide . do you have a history of diabetes or hypoglycemia?

No history. I am nowhere near a Walgreens...good to know about protein water.

Isopure is a clear Liquid Protein drink. I do not like any of the flavors, but many people on this site do. Maybe try that?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
