I'm with you Vegas and we have the same date. Tomorrow is my pre-op and I'm panicking!! My fiancé says just do whatever makes me happy but it's such a scary thing!

I think all if us had doubts at some point before surgery so I would say what you are going through is very normal. I would suggest you focus on why you made this decision in the first place. Nothing worthwhile is easy so you will have challenges. Whoever none of these challenges will be as tough as being over weight and the issues they cause. Good luck.

I've had my share of pity parties and roller coaster rides, but the results are worth the emotions I've been through this past year. I'm learning to love my band and my new life. :) Best wishes to you!

You wanna be ALIVE for future outings & future cruises, right?? Being able to eat the way we were able to pre-band is NOT what life is about. I think we all go through self doubt. It's normal. Good luck!!!

Hi Chas0610,

I'm new to this site and this is my first post. Your concern particularly caught my attention. You said that you are afraid that you won't be able to eat with friends like you used to or partake in the cruise line cuisine; This is why you, me and others considered the lap band. We are tired of looking and feeling this way. One other responder stated to think about what you will be able to do versus what you will be able to eat. Let food be a secondary issue instead of primary. I support you 100%. Don't back out now. Go forward and let's be sexy!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
