I Go In March 8Th For My Surgery

Recommended Posts

I am having the sleeve done and I am sitting here wondering if I have to have that tube that you spoke of. No one mentioned a tube to me while talking to the DR. When they make sure nothing is leaking what do they do and is there any pain involved?

Tube was just for drainage of surgery site, pulling out wasn't painful at all was like a small scratch from a thorn. Made me feel alot better too. Moving around as soon as you can after surgery is key! For breathing too! I feel 20times better each time I walk the halls! It was confined I get it tonight!!!! Yippeeee!!!

Great news that you are feeling better. Yes walk walk walk! My friend just got back from her gastric sleeve surgery and she said if she would have known the pain 48hrs after surgery she would not have done it...however, she does feel great now and no pain just gas. Ask your doctor before you leave about evacuating, he might recommend Milk of Magnesia if you don't go after 6days. Good luck and keep up the updates.

Yes, much better now, down 11lbs from Monday, went thru a family food feat and didn't feel bad at all. Glad I didn't eat actually. Played with kids and helped wash dishes!

Hey canada just wanted to see how everything went?

Went ok, no pain, everyone was great, the only thing that happened, I had an allergic reaction to the anesthic so I was a balloon, face, feet hands, but after 5 days it is going down. I am feeling good, a few tummy spasms, my back is sore, but the more I walk ,the better it gets, trying to get all my liquids in, this I find hard because u get full so fast, so sipping constantly Friday I start the shakes so looking forward to that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
