I'm two months post op and have lost 45 lbs. Now, first off, that sounds good when I say it and it's great to lose even that much. BUT, 15 of it was the first week. I feel like this weight is moving SO slow. And it seems like I've been eating a lot more lately. It scares me. I use MFP to log calories and I eat mostly Protein but I seem to be hungry all the time again and have started eating sweets a little again. :(

Any advice?

Breathe. It will come off. I would try to get away from the sweets. Don't cause ur self to think ur not doing well and ruin this for u. Could u have lost this much weight on ur own? Do u remember why u did this? Just know there will b stalls, get back on track with ur diet. U can do this!!! :)

Thank you, Elle. It doesn't help that people ask me how much I've lost, like every other day! And when I feel I didn't do too good one day, I tell myself I'll get back to it tomorrow and then "tomorrow " ends up the same. :( It feels like I'm falling back into my old habits. But, I guess I've gotten too comfy with losing weight that I've slacked off. Yes, I can get back on track! :) I hope.

Wow 45 lbs in 8 weeks that is awesome!!! You should Celebrate that. It comes to about 5 lbs a week.

My advice is this - try to find small victories. Instead of considering your entire day a failure because you ate some sweets - focus on your positive. Today my goal is to eat all my Protein. Tomorrow my goal is to cut out one bad item that I have been eating. My next goal is to cut out two bad items and so on. Since you log your food you can look back and choose items to eliminate. You have a lot to Celebrate, and I think as diet pros we are conditioned to say tomorrow will be different without really changing anything. It just causes a spiral of negative thoughts. Negative thoughts lead to doubting yourself. Doubting yourself leads to giving up. You have taken such a great positive step forward in the road to a new life. Start celebrating the small things and you will be amazed at how much easier it is.

If the same people keep asking about your weigh loss tell then that you are no longer concerned with silly numbers! I feel great and that is what matters.

My theory is that your body needs to recoup. You lose a bunch, it takes a break, then it starts again. You are only able to eat like an 1/8 of what you used to eat. Relax and enjoy the ride. ;)

This is so me as well! Thank you for posting I've been feeling like a failure but when you look at the big picture, we've come along way and will continue to get to our goal. Don't let people try and get you down when they keep asking how much you've lost, slow and steady wins the race!

Me Too so discouraged!!! 21 pounds down post op 8/22. Doing everything except exercise, 1100 cal intake is not much BUT 21 lbs off is better than 21 ON!

And Really what do you say to those people whom ask "So, how much have you lost?" I'd like to say its none of your business! That's so rude! Why do people think it's ok to ask!

I know right??? I have no idea what to say, usually I just say I'm closer to my goal. It really is none of their business, but I don't want to be rude either! Lol

Just because someone asks a question doesn't mean you have to answer it--any politician will tell you that! If someone is rude enough to ask how much you've lost (close friends excluded), just smile and say I'm feeling fine, thanks and then change the subject.

Now, stop and think for a second. You're frustrated because your weight loss is slowing--but instead of upping the exercise and reviewing your food log for possible changes, you are choosing to eat more. Eh?? Time to reboot your brain and get back on track! Good luck and may your scale reward your new efforts soon!

My surgery was 8/7/13. With the 2 week pre-op diet I have lost 43 lbs. I am not sure if that is good or if I am loosing slow. :)

It is exactly what you said. It's 43 pounds and it's freaking amazing. You've lost a 5 year old in 2 months.

Its better to lose slow. Just be prepared for stalls. Some are long and some are short. We all have them. Best of luck to you. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
