surgery date- and now SCARED TO DEATH!

Recommended Posts

Okay, no one has posted on this site since October. By now most of you have had your surgery, or you are getting close. As of the 11th I was two months post op. Doing fantastic. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't get compliments which even makes you feel better. And the energy, I can't believe it. I remember when I couldn't walk through Walmart Super Center and wish they had benches somewhere in the middle to get our breath. Now not a problem. The only thing I will say, is the surgery is really costing. New clothes an I'm not even close to goal, well for the doctors 36 lbs, me 50 lbs. Plus, I decided to invest in a threadclimber. Actually bought it for the daughter but told her it was her Christmas present, Valentines, Easter, Birthday and the list goes on and the stipulation is that it stayed at my place and I get to use it until I die in 30+ years :). But I'm loving this more than I did the band and I felt I would never think that, but I do. No monthly visits, no needles sticks in the stomach, blood sugars totally under control. So if any of you had complications, I'm sorry. But this is the best thing that has happened to me in 30 years when I started to eating way too much . At my age I was also fearful of not waking up from the surgery but decided that if that happened there was somebody above me that wanted me there more than they wanted me here. Have a Happy Thankful Thanksgiving.

Is anyone else losing slowly? I have lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks Tuesday will be 6 weeks. I hit a stall week 3 for 2 weeks and this week I have not lost anything. I am able to eat 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup which is more than I was told which was 1/4 cup. I have a lot of head hunger. Trying not to get discouraged. I am so afraid I will be one of the lap band revision to RYN that doesn't lose. Any advise appreciated

Don't worry Lynn. I'm losing very slowly, about 1lb a week. I'm happy with this (as long as it continues) as I could eat this way forever and don't feel deprived or as if I'm on a diet. I'm considering doing some exercise to tone up a bit. But every time you think you're a slow loser, you can be sure someone else is slower ;-) 14lb gone, 51lb to go.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
