Ahhhhh on this liquid diet!

Recommended Posts

I feel like I can't do this liquid diet. This chocolate shake is the worst. How will I make it five more days?!

Being at work and around all these people eating food is driving me crazy and I know this is just the beginning

I just focused on the fact that I wanted this surgery and this was the price of admission. It really helped. If it helps you get what you want it's not such a terrible sacrifice. I had to do it for ten days. It sucked mostly because I hated the shakes but found unjury.com and they weren't bad at all. Honestly, I know that "it's just the beginning thing" feels like it's all sacrifice forever now but that hasn't been the case for me. The liquid diet was tough and the first 5 days after surgery kind of sucked. I didn't have a lot of pain but I felt really yucky. Since then it hasn't been nearly as hard as I would have thought. When you aren't hungry you seriously don't want this stuff like you did before. It's so much easier than I thought it would be. Hang in there!

It's really a mental thing. Focusing on the prize is what gets me through! Feel free to come on here and complain and whine in the meanwhile. God knows I sure did lol. Good luck! It is really, really worth it! I'm only 3 weeks out and I haven't regretted this for a second yet.

I was scared of what the consequences might be if I didn't stick to the rules. Some surgeons will open you, then close you right back up if your liver is enlarged. Shrinking the liver is imperative to having a surgery with as few complications as possible. You're gonna make it, and these last five days are going to go by so fast it will be a shock when you suddenly find yourself at the hospital preparing for surgery.

Thanks guys. I'm trying hard to stay focused and i made it through day two! I have five days left and I know I can do this. I really do appreciate the encouragement. Not sure I could have made it through today without it. I'm sure I will have lots more whining and complaining lol;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
