August 2013 surgeries

Hello every one. I'm new here. My surgery is scheduled for August 7th. Through kaiser Richmond Northern California with Dr. Fischer. I don't think it's hit me yet. I don't feel as excited or nervous as I expected I would.

Welcome! And believe me when I say it hasn't hit me either. I am three weeks away and it all seems so surreal.

I would love to know what we will need after surgery as well. I know what to take to the hospital, but I am also trying to get my home ready.

* I am bringing my portable FAN because i am always hot

* And a 3 foot extension strip outlet so i can plug in my portable fan and my IPhone and my Nook. I recommend the extension strip outlet to everybody.

And extra warm socks and slippers. My feet are always cold.

Cotton balls for my ears.

I might bring my warmest pajamas too, just in case.

Definitely bringing a loose tent dress to wear home.

I am thinking my chewable vitamins and antacids and papaya will be the only postop chomping i will get for a while. I am ready now

Shershrinking thx for mentioning the loose fitting gown. I'm adding that to my list. As for the person that asked about the Chapstick I've read on here from several people that their lips were extremely chapped while in the hospital.

I don't know how to add to the list so can someone put on there a heating pad and gas x strips? Thx! Oh did I see papaya enzyme? If not add that too.

Papaya enzyme? What is that for?

Papaya enzyme is to help digest food that coats and clogs the hole from new stomach to intestine. (anastomosis?) I was reading postops and it sounds very painful - dont want to be stuck without my papaya.

Is anyone else on antidepressants or meds for fibromyalgia? They don't make them chewable.< /div>

Ask your regular doctor about fibromyalgia meds- can they be dissolved under your tongue ? Maybe open a caplet to dissolve under your tongue? I am not sure either.

Hi joy! I'm a bit nervous but so excited to start this. I see you have two little ones. How old are they? I ask cause I have a 2 girls that turned 4 and 2 in June. I'm mainly doing this not only to get healthy for myself but also so they don't remember me this way.

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

My kids are 22 months and almost 4.5. I'm also doing it for them as well as myself. I'm just tired of being the mom on the sideline at the park or at the amusement park etc. I want to be doing things with them. Like running, riding bikes, long walks. That is what is getting me through the nerves. I just remind myself by this time next year how different our life will be. This Sunday is the one month Mark till surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
