I'm post op since Thursday night, and the doc just wants me on liquids! So I've been getting somewhat nauseous, someone told me I could just skip to puréed ?

I am told not to advance to another phase diet until seen or told by your surgeon.

I was on liquids for 3 weeks after surgery, I think its way too soon for pureed.< /p>

I'm not telling anyone to skip, but i was on puree since day two. I never have had any issues with any food at all. So just stick it out. They all have their guidelines for reasons.

I was never on liquids after day two in the hospital. On day three they served my chicken salad and a canned pear. I have done fine on food. Did not have to do purred at all. It is a good idea to listen and follow your surgeons instructions though.

I have to be on liquids one more week (2 weeks total) then I move into soft foods. Probably next Friday.

Wow I'm amazed at the differences among instructions.

I was surprised at my one-week post-op when my doc told me to start on soft foods! I've been doing really well with them but I have to really push Water in between meals bc I'm so full. I haven't been too adventurous but the basic foods have given me NO problem at all.

I thought I was suppose to be on liquid for a month when I when for a check up. The surgeon is asking me how I'm doing? I was like good. Drinking liquid Jello Soup all day. He said you haven't eat yet? I said was I suppose to eat? He starts laughing yeah you should be on soft food since you didn't do anything but liquid. I said ok I'm going to start eating. I said I though liquid was a month he thought it was so funny & ask you don't feel hungry. I said nope I was full with liquid & I could go with out eating I'm never hungry. He said I'm his only patience that forgot about eating & no wonder I'm was slimming down so fast. Eating was very hard for me I kept vomiting & I was on mash potato for so long. Then month 2 vomiting everything I ate. Month 3 1 wk vomiting non stop my stomach closed up I couldn't get food in. Needed an opening. I was normal after that. Then off/on vomiting & dumping.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
