Flat Freaked out by food?

Recommended Posts

I know there are worse things to be freaked out about. Bees, clowns, dollar store makeup....but I'm SERIOUSLY freaked out by food. I'm over 1 month out and according to the plan my nut gave me, I can now have bread *wheat* and ground meat. Moist. The exact wording is "Phase III 5/5-6/2 You may now increase meat consistency to ground (make sure that it is very moist) and toasted 100% wheat bread"

Then "Week 6: 5/19 You may now begin lean thinly shaved deli meats"

So here I am...with a black bean morningstar *1/2 patty with cheese) and 1/4 peice of toasted wheat bread...and I am TERRIFIED to eat it. I cooked the burger very moist...I can smoosh it with my fork. But it has bits of corn. Now I'm terrified if that's okay. And the bread has little chucks of seeds...and I'm terrified if THAT's okay. I'm terrified of throwing up...still hasn't happened. I'm terrified of hurting my pouch!!!

Is this normal? Do I need counseling? I didn't have to do any counseling or groups before I had this. My town doesn't have a support group. Is it normal to be scared of all food? I weigh everything...I know it's not too much...I'm just so darn scared to eat it.

Hey congrats on the surgery. You're fine. You're scared, you're apprehensive. It's normal. Take it slow and follow your diet plan. Every body, surgery and diet is different.

Best wishes

Neil, you're human. You will screw up. It's ok. Take a deep breath. If you're not sure about the bread, call the dietician. A few questions may make you feel silly but every piece of info helps us. I know a lot of morning star eaters. You're going to be fine luv.

Thank you so much. You both made me feel so much better. I did eat the burger and the piece of bread. I spit out seeds and corn that bothered me and I feel fine! THANK YOU

Just take it slow. Take a bite, chew like your life depends on it, and wait a few minutes to see how you feel between bites. And honestly, throwing up isn't all that bad. It's a much better experience (for me, anyway) now than it was pre-surgery. There's no bile in your pouch so you don't get the nasty acidly burning. Trust me, I do it all the time -_-

I have heard this. I have felt like throwing up a few times, but hold it in because I am so afraid. If I would just let it come, id feel better. It is hard to overcome some of these new things!

As long as you stick with soft and chew well you will be fine!!! Pouches are tougher then we think! But, that said, it's all new and we've invested so much, you'd be crazy not to be apprehensive!!!!

I was so scared the first time and I tried hold it in. I was in so much pain! Bot once the food is out you almost instantly feel better. Now I can almost make myself throw up and feel better.

I'm so very terrified of throwing up! And little things like "are the seeds in the bread okay?" just throw me for a loop. I have a diet plan. I have a food list...but it doesn't really cover stuff like that!

I am the same way. If something doesn't agree with me or if I forget and don't chew my food I feel like crap and I make myself throw up. I've only done it a handful of times in 5 months but its instant relief.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
