Gettin RNY done June 13....on opti fast untill then!!! Getting closer! Nervous!

I'm scheduled for RNY surgery June 12. Pre-Op appointment tomorrow at 8:30 am. I'm a self-pay and have got to fork out $19,500 tomorrow. :( No changing my mind after tomorrow. I've been trying to get this surgery for 3 years through insurance, and they refuse to pay, even though 3 doctors have recommended me for it. I hate insurance companies!!!

I'm so nervous for tomorrow. It's my last appointment before RNY on June 5th. I had my lap and out on March 18th and had to wait for the RNY cause I had too much scar tissue when she got inside my stomach. Well, I have gained almost 10 pounds in the past month cause I've had zero restriction. It's been SO hard controlling my hunger. Everything is good with insurance and its all planned (have FMLA and everything). I'm jut worried she's going to see how much I've gained and put a halt to it. I can handle anymore disappointments. Ugh.

My insurance approved first letter. Surgery date is June 28th. Excited and nervous. Nice to find a group of people going through the same stuff at the same time.

I must have a great doctor. I don't have any specific diet before surgery. Was basically just told don't pig out. lol And liquids the day before of course.

As for insurance I also have BCBS and had my approval quickly.

How did you realize there was a problem? My friend has the band and never really lost with it. She is about 5 years out.

I just never really felt like I even had the band. I lost around 20 lbs in the beginning which I believe was just because of the swelling. At about 6 weeks, I felt no restriction and was hungry all of the time so I had my first adjustment. Time after time I would have Fluid added to my band, but it never made a difference. I felt no restriction and was always hungry. It was a daily struggle and my former surgeon would just tell me to try harder and kept offering me a prescription for Phentermine. I felt as if I was doing it all on my own and I was failing. The only time the stupid thing worked was when I was pregnant. And when I say it worked, I mean that I went from no restriction to not being able to tolerate liquids overnight. I had to have all of the fluid removed and then after delivery we began the process of gradually refilling my band. It was the same as before and I felt nothing. When I practically begged my doctor for an upper endoscopy or upper GI and he said it wasn't necessary, that's when I decided to get a 2nd opinion and I'm so glad that I did.

All is a go for June 5th!! Yay! :) my surgeon did scare me a bit when she said I may need an open surgery due to all my scar tissue from getting my lap band out. Hoping that doesn't become the case. :/

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
